roosterbean, I'm not sure why the email was returned, did you get a message with it?
Also, although we are giving our teams till the 26th Sept to contact, anyone who was due to change before then should be contacted in the next day or so, we are also setting the date as 26th sept so we can give everyone 30 days to organise alternative cover, we aren't just going to switch the insurance off. I hope this is more clear.
Payless, in terms of contacting as early as possible, we are trying to do that, but there are a fair few policies to sort out, and we are trying to make sure everything is dealt with - its a time consuming process.

Spent 30 mins on the phone to PAYD department today. (admitadly 10 mins on hold)
1)Was told that their seemed to be a change of policy, instead of 7 days written notice we were to be given 30 days verbal notice.
Checking the date at which my policy would be cut i found that the 30 days countdown started when i got the call for the credit check. Despite them not quoting me the date or any mention of 30 days. The lady on the end of the line then changed the 30 days notice to today thus cancelling my policy in early november.
2) I then pointed out i had a policy with them till the end of november but a normal policy quote starting from the 27'th of august.
So Nu moved the date of the policy i was about to take up to start when my old policy expired, they also appologised for the late arival of the mail (recieving a letter dated 27'th on the 4th of september) this was due to a contractor that they had stopped using.
3)I sked about a refund(towards the initial cost of starting)
after talkin to her manager i was promiced aprox £115 pounds back. Also their is a possibilty of free (for 1 year) servises from the black box.
end result:
I am not happy with my policy being cut short and think NU's systems are inaficient and unclear.
If however (im awaiting written conformation) the quote arrives as promised i must confess i have been treated fairly. recieving a quote substantially below the market standard.
Warning to others, if you have recieved a request for a credit check it may be worth phoning them to check when the policy ends.0 -
I think NU are conning us on this one. I have a letter (sent by email, at my request) stating that I am fully insured until 3rd October but would have to arrange alternative insurance from that date. Today, I received a quote for 12 months premium with cover starting on 25th August! And I'm still paying the monthly base rate to NU until I start the new policy. Why couldn't they just run the new quote cover from the date that PAYD expires! I'm losing out on this and I've emailed to tell them so. In the absence of a satisfactory reply, I have already started to get alternative quotes elsewhere. Incidentally, I still have nothing in writing about the special Trafficmaster offer either     :mad:0

Well, it's now Monday and I still haven't heard about their decision to start my new cover before the PAYD cover ends. I have also been finding out the very aggressive competition between insurance companies to grab your business. Mentioning no names, I got an online quote which was way below the quote that NU offered me, but the Company rang me today, and without any prompting by me, offered to reduce their quote which they did to the tune of £30 which makes the NU quote look silly now. I am still mulling it over0

I am getting too close to my renewal date for comfort, even if their Director of Insurance Sales and Service has told me that there is nothing for me to do.
Beccus - my renewal date is before the 26th September and I have not heard from NU.
Thank you for your offer to take this off line and I am sure you personally are doing your best, but this does have the ring of a company doing their best to keep bad news (possibly the truth) about their service away from a public forum.
I would have thought that if NU had a "fair few policies" to get through, then this would have been built into their plan when they made the decision to quit this market. NU is a fair sized company so you would expect them to have a "fair few Policies"
Is there no contingency built in, in the event of them falling behind?
I asked a broker to have a look at my insurances on Friday morning and they came back on Friday afternoon with very competitive quotes and are still looking.0 -

I emailed Becca re my cover dates and we have agreed that the new cover will run from the date PAYD ends, but there's no budging on price. They keep saying that the quote includes discounts for life, but they are still about £60 dearer that the best quote I've had. Can't see myself staying with NU now!0 -
I haven't heard a sausage - policy about six months old. The only letter I received was the one telling me that PAYD was being withdrawn and I would only be charged my base premium. I've had nothing since then - not even a call asking me to consent to a credit check...
If they think they're going to leave me without insurance.... I need more than a couple of days not only to get alternative quotes (which, tbh, only takes minutes online these days) but to be able to budget for it. Not all of us have hundreds of spare pounds every month...which is why we're here, really.
All I want is a decent policy at a decent price. If they'd cover me to December then I'm pre-registered for the Coverbox scheme...We may not have it all together, but together we have it all

Hi MisterNick,
we're not trying to keep bad news out of the public forum, in fact part of the reason that i do my job is that we are then able to tackle bad news head on, get real time feedback from our customers and do what we can to act on it!
In terms of your case, i can understand exactly what your saying about getting too close for comfort, and will just let you know that my offer still stands, (I'm sure you don't fancy broadcasting your policy details on the forum) and I can organise a call for you today if you would like?

roosterbean - I don't make those decisions sadly and the policies are being wrapped up.
Emmylou - I totally understand how you feel and the same offer extends to you as everyone else please feel free to email me your details and I will get a call sorted for you today.
