payless and roosterbean - I'll happily get somebody to contact you and let you know what is happening if you'd like to send me your policy number and contact details?
My email address is rebecca.sibley@norwich-union.co.uk

Are people who consented to the credit check getting preferential treatment here?0 -
Thanks but no thanks ...
I am happy to vent my concerns here, but if NU want to alter my contract they can contact me direct , I would not expect their service to rely on contacts obtained via these boardsAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -
just a quickie re this current debate as I've been watching thisthread out of curiosity.
I was eventually told, after asking for clarification, that any call to them initiated the cancellation procedure and they would get to the other people in time
I rang to change cars and was TOLD that my policy would be cancelled.....NO mutual agreement as far as I can see......I actually said I would have preferred tohave let the policy run until "renewal" in October. In no way was I asked if the cancellation was acceptable, I had No choice.0 -
If NU cancel our policy without consent are we able to reclaim the money to start the policy?
Regarding this i have found page 50 of the hand book
'We may cancel his policy:
by sending 7 days notice to your last known address
Any refund you are entitled to will be provided after cancelation has taken place.
On cancelation of this policy an additional charge of up to £30.45 will apply to cover the addministrative costs of providing the policy.'
Will i will be charged for the cutting my policy short!?
Edit;
current sitution: Awaiting another call or letter, have recieved 1 call for credit check.0 -
We simply don't know, we can only go on the poster's version of events - that's why I started the relevant piece of text that you have quoted with IF!
"they're in breach of contract" to which you dogmatically replied:They're not ...You might be unhappy with the service that they provided, and thus you may have some recourse through NU's complaints process, but one thing that they are not guilty of is breach of contract.0 -
Beccus,
Could you advise whether NU are on top of their administration in this matter.
On the 4/7 Hugh Hessing (Director of Insurance Sales and Service) wrote to me and my wife, separatley, and said
"There is nothing you need to do at this time and we will contact you shortly to discuss your individual needs and how best to meet these"
The policies are due mid-September. Apart from the credit query question we have heard nothing.
If there is a problem then I think it only correct that in your role on this board you let everybody know. If there is no problem and you are getting to everybody within good timescales, then again you should give everybody that comfort.
Not answering specific questions or doing them by private mail is not what this is all about.
I will remove the last remarks from my previous thread as perhaps they are not in the interest of harmony0 -
This changeover from PAYD to ordinary policies is proving to be a shambles. My wife took a call from NU who of course wouldn't say anything to her and I was out but she was told that a letter was in the post about the new quote. Well, it's Wednesday today and no letter. So I rang the PAYD number and the lady took ages to find my quote as it wasn't on the new! system. Anyway, she found it eventually and gave me the quote. It was only after prompting by me about the Sat Nav system that she said, that, as a gesture of goodwill, all PAYD policyholders would get either one year of free Safe Speed or Tracking. Did anyone know that? As I already pay Trafficmaster for these services in advance, where does that leave me. I am very tempted to leave NU. Their customer service (sic) on this issue has been appalling!0

Hello all
I've just spoken to a lady in the PAYD department and as such have got some answers for you - I hope these help:
a) About our cancelling PAYD on page 47 of the policy booklet there is a clause that says we do have written in the policy document that as long as we give you 7 days notice in writing we have the right to cancel:
(I hope this works! If not here is a link! http://www.flickr.com/photos/30240292@N08/2825274194/)
And in as many cases as possible we have tried to call people directly rather than send a letter.
b) james_prie no you won't be charged for cutting the policy short.
c)payless I understand what you are saying and you will be contacted soon - All policyholders WILL be contacted by 26th September.
d) MisterNick - The reason you and some of the others haven't been contacted yet is because we need to let people know before 26th september and some policies may have come to renewal before then we started contacting people for July and August renewal dates first, we are now dealing with the september and beyond renewal dates - so you will get contact asap.
e) Also addressed to MisterNick - I don't know why you haven't heard any more about your policy without some specific details - if you are happy for me to have a look please email your policy number and how you'd like to be contacted and I can investigate for you. (this is not meant to be preferential treatment I promise! I'm trying to help everyone as much as possible).
I think thats everything. Please if you have further questions keep them coming, and/or email me - rebecca.sibley@norwich-union.co.uk and just to double confirm, you WILL hear from us by 26th Sept. And I'd just like to add finally, thank you all for bearing with me while I find this information out for you, I understand it is hugely frustrating not knowing whats been going on.
Take Care

Hi Beccus, I may be being a bit blonde here but if all policies are going to be cancelled by the end of September, and some peeps won't be contacted until 26 September, isn't this leaving it a bit fine to get something else put in place? We have no letter informing us of this intention and have taken this info from this thread.
Our policy actually doesn't (sorry, didnt) lapse until mid-February and we are going away at the end of September - does this mean that we could be travelling with no insurance and possibly no contact regarding this?
By the way, I did try and email you separately but it was returned for some reason, although I do agree with Payless's sentiments in having to do this in any event...."A" is for Opple if yowm spaking loike a yamyam!0 -
