Thought you might ask that! :D More detailed instructions are on that link I gave earlier too. Basically what you do though is cut the front and back off the bag and stick them onto two pieces of cardboard (these are the front and back of the book). Take off the ribbon handle and cover the inside front and inside back covers with coloured paper. Cut some coloured paper to fit inside the book and hole punch all the pages.

I used my trusty Big Bite:

You then use the handle ribbon to tie the pages together:

    and voila:

Embellish the front as you wish. Would make a good book for children or young teenagers to put their magazine cuttings/photos/drawings in.

qwiksave - that's brilliant ! Still got my smaller card with holes punched that I tried tying with a ribbon but it wouldn't seem to open up very well....... I'll have another go and then I'll start hoarding cereal boxes...................:rotfl:

Hi Mad Frog - no question is ever silly ever. Unless it was me asking if muppets have mortgages :o :rotfl:

I have only ever done 3 scrapbook pages so am no expert - but I use 12x12 card and layer it up on there. There are a lot of gorgeous patterned cardstock around at the moment - I've just ordered so paperloft ones in the sale from here. and there's a 10% discount off £15 about somewhere. I ordered on Sunday and it arrived today.

Or you could get an album that would support the paper. Several people scrap on A4 as it fits in those pockets you can get for normal ringbinders.
Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended :p

thanks Paddingtondoo, I have 12 & 12 album a post bound expandable one which came with clear page protectors... I have basic grey, k & Co and loads of papermania papers.

Do I just layer up on those? It's just that they don't feel very strong!

Feeling even more of a numpty with these questions now :D

On reflection Mary, the Book Rings that Ches suggested would be better for this gift bag album too - think I've got some somewhere... The instructions in the book also suggest putting ring reinforcements on every page too, something to do while watching TV I suppose... ;)

I plan to do the cereal box scrapbook soon so look out for that ;) - I haven't managed to locate any gardening catalogues yet, I even asked the MIL if she had some and she is going to find some for me! :D

Sorry Mad-Frog, don't know the answer to your query about strengths of paper.

Ooh! Go on mumhug, its fun! :D

I've modified my scrapbook - its now got book rings (much better, means I can have it now, don't have to give it away! :rotfl:)

and I've put corner protectors on the covers too. It makes it easier to open:

They are just made from cutting the bottom corners off used envelopes (very mse). I might decorate them to fit in with the theme though.

Mad Frog, you can use just the papers you have for the scrapbook pages that go in the page protectors. But if you want to make your own scrapbook you will ned to make the pages from card first then decorate them with the papers. I personally always use plain card for the basis of all my pages and then decorate them with patterned paper (no less is more for me I am afraid as I use several different papers on each page) even the ones in my bought albums as it gives extra stability.
