Thanks dawn. I'll see if I can spot it! I'll take Lynne's number in case.
Shame you can't do evening classes. Me and my neighbour (and occasionally others) have craft evenings and get together to play with our stash and share our craft books. I did scrapbooking last time, but other times we've done paper mache or glove and sock animals, what ever new book someone has bought. it's great to get together.
maybe you could join us sometime. how big is your little one? (ie is she a portable baby!!!) :)

He's 8 so is highly portable but can be a bit of a distraction. He has his own scrapbook projects on the go and likes to make cards too so it's not too bad. All our early evenings are taken up with sporty things for him; football, rugby, karate, boys brigade. then the later evenings he's in bed so I can't get out.

The main problem is though that what with working full time, doing all his activities and trying to keep my house in some kind of order I'm just far too tired to do much else! Sometimes it's 10:30 before I get a chance to sit down and relax.

Thanks for the offer though. Sounds like you have a lot of fun!

I am nearly at the end of my 1st scrapbook page, I can't believe it's taken me so long, I'll post a pic when I'm done! just wanted to ask?
    1. Where/how do you store your pages? I'm doing 12 x 12
    2. Where would you recommend I buy my 12 x 12 card, for this page I paid £0.79 for the sheet it's double sided it's all they had! Am I better off buying a pack?

    Hi Hels

Its swings and roundabouts really re the paper. Buying a pcak works out cheaper per page but you'll be left with pages that you don't really like or don't suit your style. Buying by the sheet is much more expensice but at least you know you're buying what you will actually use.

When I first started I bought 2 packs and decided that none of them fitted my style once I'd got started. I sold them on at a loss of about 66%. having learnt my lesson, I bought a few single sheets until I knew what I liked and then bought another pack more suited to what I'd actually use.

With that as the base, I've been buying single sheets as and when I need them or when they're in the sale (theres a few links to sales on the cards thread that have 12x12 papers in the sale.

Hi, Mind if I butt in with an opinion? ;) You don't necessarily need to spend more money on paper. I bought a 'Scrapbooking' pack from The Works a while ago, it was really good (surprisingly!) It was a box set that had a book and CD in it that describes ways of doing scrapbooking in your own way. As in, making your own background paper using acrylic paints, stamping, resist effects, distressing, etc. If you've got paper in your collection that you don't like, change it! You can totally change the colour of it too if you want. Just seems to be a better solution than trying to sell it (at a loss) or worse still, binning it.

And while I'm on, I've just been looking at (and am very inspired by) this artist, who does a lot of altered artwork:

    Great backgrounds!
I don't want to make money, I just want to be wonderful

Sorry I can't help out dawn, although it's great that he likes crafty stuff too - along with his sports!! It does sound manic.
I found Lynne's it's nice - although very dangerous to have 2 craft shops in walking distance. We've booked in for thursday's class - did you make 1 page or 3 as you have on your blog? ta!

I went for the all day Sunday class and we did 3 layouts. I've never been to one of the evening ones so you'll have to let me know what you get up to.

Looking forward to seeing it :D

I would shop around for paper and card and look out for sales to get the best deal. Hobbycraft sell core'dinations cardstock for 49p a sheet. The Glitter Pot only charge £1 p&p for orders under £10... http://www.theglitterpot.co.uk/scripts/prodList.asp?idCategory=411

Thanks for your help as always. Well here is my first ever page, it's not perfect by any stretch of the imagination! The main backing paper, is papermania 12 x 12 which I think is a little to big now, but I'm quite pleased with it, I just need to fill in the little tag at the top with dates etc, Please feel free to offer me any advice!
