Thats exactly why I scrapbook instead of cardmaking Mary. At least I get to keep it.

I am the opposite with paper. I can't wait to get it home to use. My layouts have usually got 2/3 different pattered papers on each one so I go through a lot. I don't waste it though as the leftovers are used for another layout in a different place in the album so it doesn't look too obvious. I need to go on a 'stash' diet though as I am currently spending about £100 every month on scrapping and thats far too much. I want to go to Alexander Palace in September to the Scrapbooking Extravaganza so I need to save the pennies between now and then.

Why don't you have a clear out and sell everything you don't need/ must keep on ebay. That should make you some £ for September :D

    Sell my paper...nooooooooo:eek:

Actually I am joking and its a good idea. I do attend a crop once a month and we can take anything we want to sell there so I may do that. I am not much of a hoarder though and I spend a lot because I scrap nearly every day and get through loads of stuff quite quickly. I do have some things that haven't worked out quite as I planned which might suit another scrapper so I expect there is stuff that I could sell. I am not much of an embellishment fan except for blooms, buttons, brads, ribbons and eyelets so most of my spending is on cardstock, paper and glue but I have enough of that to easily last me until September so some 'No Spend Days' coming up I think. Must keep off the on line shops.

    hi all,
this is a fantastic thread i have been slowly working my way through it! I am fairly new to this whole crafting thing, and i am amazed by what is out there. to ease myself in gently i have been looking into digital scrapbooking, my theory is that i can layout my pages in photoshop use some of the lovely free to download papers and some photoshop effects on the photographs then print them off onto good paper and embellish them myself to make them a bit more touchable and 3d.
As i say in theory i thought this may work out to be more cost effective as the initial cost of papers and glues and cutting equipment is not needed, but i then realised i may struggle to find somewhere to print 12 x12 and it may be more expensive than starting from scratch. The main appeal of digital scrapping for me is i am not the best at cutting out neatly etc and digital also means its not expensive if you make mistakes!
here are a few pages i have done for starters let me know what you think and if you have any ideas about the printing or if your views on digital versus hard copies then that would be great

binkyboo - they look brilliant ! Haven't realy done any proper scrapbooking as such but I intend to sort out my endless photo albums and do them in a sort of scrapbook way.
Not being too techno minded I can't do it your way - I'd get in too much of a pickle even if I tried.
    Well done:T

binkyboo - your pages are gorgeous. I've never done any digital scrapbooking as I don't have a printer. Could you start with an 8x8 album, it may be easier to print the pages? As I said I haven't tried this, so my question may be completely stupid!

thanks everyone! I have been into jessops today and they suggested i try online for printing but they also sent me to a local art shop that also does printing and they wanted to charge £2.35 a sheet for just 8 x 8

not very money saving! i just nipped into another local printers on the way home and they said that they could do 12 x 12 by printing onto a3 and trimming it down but that would still be £1.40 a sheet. i will try and have a look online tonight at the printing costs but i think it might be just the same expense wise to do an album by hand.
i will keep going with the digital scrapping though as i had never used photoshop before i did this so there are lost more things i can try and teach myself to make them look better, just got to hunt down some more freebie supplies to download!

Hello everyone :hello: Wow! I never knew there was a scrapbooking thread on MSE! I normally visit the Boots and general Grabbit threads. I just googled something that I wanted to buy and just happened to click here.......

binkyboo, I can recomend www.dscolourlabs.co.uk/ for you digi scrapbook printing (I'm a member on UKS and it was originally recommended to my by several people).
The prints were 60p for a 12x12. But postage is £3.00. So worth doing a bulk order. They arrived extremely well packaged ~ in a photo bag, sandwiched in corrugated plastic and finally in a cardboard box!

They were a good quality print and delivered very quickly.
