    Hi Guys,

Heres a natty little pattern for a Baker Boy Style Hat, very trendy at the moment. Its American so you will need to convert.

I've made several of these now, but it took me some time to work out how to get the pattern to spiral! (i'm not an experienced crocheter).

Im 33 and have been crocheting since I was 9yrs old. I even taught my Nanna to crochet. She used to knit till the cows came home, but knitting is somethng I could never pick up, I find crocheting much easier.
I mainly do scarf's and shawls, but just recently I ventured out to buying a book (from ebay) with some patterns in for hats, bags, shrugs etc in.
I also advertised on Freecycle for odd balls of wool. I had a good response. And what wool I wouldn't use, I have passed on to my mums residents in the nursing home where she works. The old dears loved it!!!
My daughter is 6, and in the process of learning also. So - your'e never too old/young to learn.
Car boot sales is also a good place to hunt for wool and crochet hooks. I picked up various DK colour wool for 20p each.
The most expesive item Ive crochet, was about 15yrs ago, I brought a load of brightly coloured chunky wool, and crochet a bed spread, Its big enough to fit on a King size with it draping on the floor. After all the wool I brought, I totted up the cost and it came to £120 (ouch!) But its still going strong now, and its the type of thing which can be passed on in yrs ahead.
    Happy crocheting everyone!!! x

It is available mail order here http://www.dreamweaveryarns.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=95&products_id=1150
I tend to mail order everything from across the pond as it is easier and usually cheaper than getting them over here.

  • Can I ask for some advice please? I haven't been crocheting long.

I really want to make this teddy bear for my friends baby, which is due early next year, I have really fallen in love with it. I know that I could follow the stitches in the pattern so that should be ok, but I'm abit unclear what size hook I'm supposed to use and and also is there a more readily available UK version of this thread/yarn? Or does anyone know where can I get this thread in the UK? Sorry if these are stupid questions, I'm still learning!

    TIA!

OOh, not much to go on there, I am unfamiliar with this yarn, would suggest a 3.50mm hook and a fine yarn to start, make one and measure up as you are told finished dimensions. As long as you use the same hook and yarn combo throughout you will get the desired effect, just a little smaller or larger. I think I might have a go myself..Thanks!!:T
