I'd seen these ones, but i don't like starting something with no idea as to what it's going to look like so i was reluctant to try them *lol*

I'm feeling quite proud of myself because yesterday I crocheted my 6yo a water bottle carrier without a pattern. She takes water to school and usually carries it in her hand which is awkward so now she has a meshy bag with a strap to carry it. It fits neatly over different sizes and shapes of bottle.0

Well done you! (not meant to sound patroising, apologies if it does)
I love "improvised" stuff and i bet you'll be getting requests from her school friends for more!xxbutterflygirlxx wrote:I'm feeling quite proud of myself because yesterday I crocheted my 6yo a water bottle carrier without a pattern. Thanks Franney, you didn't sound patronising at all!
I tend to only do things using patterns but I'm finding the more I do I am understanding construction and shaping better and have the confidence to at least try. It was nice to make something that was actually needed rather than 'ooh, I fancy making that'.0 -
Butterflygirl - I've got me black DK wool and a 6mm Crochet hook - I'm gonna watch X Factor and start crocheting that lovely lacy shrug - It's been a LONG time since I did any, really looking forward to it!
Thanks for the info,

Way haaaaaaaaaaaaaaay
I had my crochet lesson today. Lovely lady came to my house and showed me all the stitches and I made my first 'square'. She says I've picked it up really quickly so just need to practise and I'll be whizzing through my afghan patterns in no time. She charged me £10 and was here for 2 1/2 hrs, (no breaks) I hadn't anyone nearby to show me so it was money well spent in my book
I told her about 'freeform crochet' so she's off to google that - she's never heard of it before.
I'm going to practise some more tonight0 -
I keep thinking I should take crochet up again.I did loads when I was an art student, lots of 'freeform' stuff and waistcoats and cardigans with lots of colours and bobbles. If you like the freeform stuff Ticklemouse I can recommend books by Sylvia Cosh and James Walters.Probably out of print now,but you might have some luck on Amazon.0

I was thinking of all you guys crocheting and when I went to see MIL on Sunday she showed me a gorgeous caridgan she was making for my little munch. It was really lovely and it turned out that it wasn't knitted but was crochet.
So I got her to show me how its done and then I did a couple of rows of it and it was really easy, although I only did double and treble stich (I think).
I was in town today so I popped into her shop (she has a needlecraft shop in Lincoln but she also sells wool and patterns and all that jazz). I was stood chatting with her and looking through all the patterns and there are some gorgeous things.
I've seen the first jumper I am going to crochet for munch...I'm so excited but I'm also now tempted to relearn how to knit as there some beautiful and trendy cardies and I'd love to make them myself for munch.
DH is being very sarci (sp?) about it all. He's not being very supportive of my money saving and 'do it yourself/home grown attitude which isn't very nice. I know he's only joking but I've warned him if he doesn't stop it I'm going to crochet him some socks and pants lol. He says crocheting and knitting are for old people but hey I'm 30 this year....just for that comment I'm going to crochet him some slippers for Christmas tee hee hee.Saving for Disney again, oops why book one Disney holiday when you can book two!:starmod: Emergency Fund Savings - #148 - £10/£1000 1% :starmod::xmastree:#083 SPC6 £63 - SPC7 £90 - SPC8 £63 - SPC9 £54 - SPC10 £26 - SPC12 £70 :xmastree:0
