  • I am happy with my ecocamel after all this time (totally not related to the company or anyone advertising it) The maths for me based on my orginal figures say it will save me £21.83 per year. This is very, very conservative figures and since my new lodger moved in the extra long showers probably wipes this out.
    Would I buy again?
They are currently on sale for £25 (I paid £30), that makes it pay back in just over a year. How long does a normal showerhead last? If you move take it with you and save the £20 per year for a fair few years especially when it does not detract from the shower quality (unless you have a powershower)
Lets get this straight. Say my house is worth £100K, it drops £20K and I complain but I should not complain when I actually pay £200K via a mortgage:rolleyes:

never even for a minute have we regretted getting an ecocamel. It is the best thing since sliced bread and my gas consumption (imeasure) is now within the B zone thanks to ecocamel

Good to hear, I'll hope for a similar reduction from my Mira
  • Just been doing my sums (bit anal but I do keep track).
My water usage has gone down from 460 litres per day to 260 litres per day, thats based on around 150 days information before and after. I'm definately not saying it's all down to the ecocamel but that was my most expensive "water saving" device and the most used in this house.

My gas usage has remained the same as last year but coupled with the fact I'm using less water I know it's because I need awarmer house this year (house sharing is tricky).

  • I purchased an EcoCamel shower head recently. You should be aware of the following:
It is not suitable for hard water areas as the holed in the head are too small and clog easily.
The hole in the base of the handles is there to allow air to enter the flow, unfortunately, it also allows water to flow out down the pipe and, in our case, onto the floor of the bathroom.
You will also need a good water flow.
So soft water good, hard water bad. Shower cubicle good, shower over bath bad.

something that is bothering me about the ecocamel aerated concept - surely adding air to hot water is going to cool it down? you will need hotter water to get the same temperature - doesnt that defeat the object of an energy saving device?

Smoke and mirrors somehow come to mind.
  • I recently purchased an ecocamel water saving shower from an advert in the Daily Mail. I was very dissappointed when I recived it £25 made in China cheap and nasty definatly not worth the money I paid. It has now started to leak from around the face. This waste of money is going back tommorrow

Thanks for that. Was considering one, but had a feeling this might be the case from one or two other comments I'd seen. I won't waste my money.
