  • I was sent one of these after attending a water saving conference - it is great - it really does reduce the water used in your shower without affecting the experience. I thought the little video on the website was very informative too www.ecocamel.co.uk it shows you how it works (nice model in the shower too!)
  • I was interested after reading the advertisement in the Daily Mail listing its attributes, followed by the statement 'And don't just take our word for it, look at what Waterwise UK say. 'This is one of the best performing shower heads I have tried, it has very little noise, it is well designed, it delivers a good flow and an even spray pattern, it is excellent value and it is great news for water efficiency. All of my family tried it and liked it.' this from Jacob Tompkins, Director of Waterwise UK. Great endorsement until you find that Ecocamel is sold by non other than? Jacob Tompkins, Waterwise UK!!! Call me an old sceptic, but surely a product that good could get its recommendations elsewhere.

Olderandwiser where do you get your information from?

I've looked into this and the showerhead seems to be sold by a company called Emery Ltd of which Jacob Tompkins isn't a director. Could you please clarify this as I feel you may be tarnishing the reputation of a product without good reason.

I'm getting a Mira Eco showerhead from eBay, seems luck was on my side as it's £20 less than retail. Pretty much the same thing (aerating) but it's also adjustable. Should be here in a couple of days so will report back.

So you signed up today, just to post this? Do you have some connection with Ecocamel?

Anyone know how many KWH it takes to heat 4400 litres (half water saved) from 20 degrees to 45 degrees?

    Roughly 128KWh of heat.

But mains water is more likely to be around 10 degrees C which would increase the saving to around 180KWh.

If heated with gas, it will save more than that in billed units because boilers are not 100% efficient.

Alternative water (and fuel) saving device (also compatible with low pressure combi-boilers):

plastic basin, plastic jug and a face flannel.

Well had it for a few days, and to be honest, you'd not know it was supposed to save water, which was a worry for me as I hate crap showers. It is a bit noisier than a normal one, quite a gurgle when you start and a hissing when in use.

It's extremely expensive compared with ordinary showerheads, and I've yet to see any independent evidence that it works at all.
