Lasagne recipe?

I've looked in the recipe collection, but couldn't find anything
Does anyone know how to make a lasagne without cheating and resorting to buying the red and white sauces in jars? I'm assuming the white one is a cheese sauce, but I might be wrong.
In case you haven't guessed, I'm not too good at cooking

Ok, rather than insulting your intelligence by going straight into step-by-step instructions, do you know how to make a bolognaise sauce and a simple white sauce using the roux method?"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

But I think it's something about fat and flour.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

Yup
I just didn't want to go into detail if you already knew how to do it
The bolognaise part can be made any way you want to really depending on what meat/veggies etc you want to use, but for a basic one I'd fry off some mince and onions with a little garlic then add a tin of tomatoes, some herbs (basil/oregano) a tbsp of tomato puree, a stock cube, splash of worcestershire sauce etc and season to taste, adding a little water if needed. You could add peppers/mushrooms etc if you want or grated carrots/courgettes to pad it out a bit. You want to leave it to simmer for an hour or two to get the flavours flowing and thicken up.
The white sauce is made by melting about 50g of butter in a pan and adding a couple of tbsp of plain flour to make a paste (roux) and "cook" this for a couple of mins while stirring, then you need to add some milk very gradually, whisking it as you go until it's blended in smoothly. It will probably take around half a pint of milk to make a thickish sauce. Season to taste.
Assemble the lasagne as usual and sprinkle over some cheese on the final layer
I hope you can follow my instructions ok, but my head is stuffed up with flu at mo (not to mention a couple of medicinal brandies) so if I've missed anything or there's any stage you're not quite clear about then please ask and I'll try to clarify, unless someone else whats to chip in too

Sorry to hear that - sounds like you need some Jewish penicillin (good homemade chicken soup). Get well soon.

Thanks!
I'm better than I have been the last couple of days ... started as a chronic chest infection Thursday morning (wracking coughs and could barely breathe!) then quickly spread to my head, as well as feeling like my body had been used as a punch bag!
I've been making true OS hot lemon, ginger and honey drinks which has helped a lot, as well good old Olbas oil
The additional brandy today has worked wonders though... but I've let myself down by having a couple of fags after not smoking for two days, so no doubt will pay for it tomorrow
I just need to make sure I have enough left for the xmas cake which is what I bought it for :rotfl:"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

Ah, I'd've added some cheese to my white sauce!
That's great, thank you so much! :TMurphy's No More Pies Club #209

Yes, there's no reason you can't add cheese to the sauce beforehand, and for an extra tip, if using cheddar add a tsp of English mustard to it too ... brings out the flavour much more
I do that when making a cheese sauce for cauliflower or fish"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"
