Lasagne recipe?

Could everyone post their favourite Lasagne/Lasagna recipe? And any tips and hints would be nice as well.
And what is the correct spelling because the Beeb and Google spell it different ways?
I made this for the first time today and I think I could do better. I just followed the instructions on the pasta packet using be-ro white sauce, and my usual bolongnaise sauce.
TIA :grinheart
PS I've looked in the index and have only found stuff on defrosting, white sauce and homemade sheets.0 -
I spell it Lasagne, and this is how i make it!!!
Mince,
1 red onion, finely chopped,
1 carrot, grated,
3 slices smoked bacon, finely chopped,
clove garlic, crushed,
tin chopped tomatos,
stock cube,
dried lasgne sheets,
white sauce
cheese.
Fry the mince, onion, garlic until mince brown (i also drain the fat at this point). Add the bacon, carrot, tomatos and stock cube, i often add a little water to the empty tomato tin and add to the mix. I bring to the boil, then layer the lasagne and mince, putting some white sauce on top of the pasta before adding the next layer of mince. On the top layer of pasta, i add the white sauce and sprinkle with lots of grated cheese, put it in the oven for about 45 minutes, and serve!!!!0 -
coincidence, I'm doing lasagne for the first time in ages tonight!
I do it like this
mince
1 onion chopped
1 carrot grated
tin of tomatoes
garlic
dried mixed herbs
mushrooms, finely chopped or finely chopped in blender
stock cube
splash of worcester sauce
lasagne sheets
white sauce
grated cheese
salt and pepper
Fry the onion, mince, carrot, mushroom (it bulks it out), add garlic, tomato, stock, herbs, salt and pepper to taste little bit of water, cook for about 15 minutes. Put half in dish, then lasagne, white sauce, mince, lasagne, white sauce, cheese. Bake at about 200 for 45 minutes."Stay Wonky":D

I spell it Lasagne, and if you've got a bottle of red wine open its always a nice rich addition to the mince! I make it with Dolmio white and red sauces, but then, thats because I'm lazy0

Sometimes i use red wine instead of water to rinse the tomato tin out!!!!! (depends if there is any left in the bottle!!!! :shhh: )0 -
I Make it like this:
1lb extra lean mince
1 chopped onion
1 chopped pepper
1 chopped stick of celery
125g mushrooms, chopped
1 tin chopped tomatoes
2 oxo cubes
1tbs Marigold vegetable stock powder
1tbs tomato ketchup
750ml milk
50g butter or marg
50g flour
100g cheddar cheese
bit of grated parmesan
italian seasoning
I dry fry the mince and then add the chopped veg, tomatoes and the tomato tin filled with water, crumble in the oxos, add the marigold and about a tsp of italian seasoning. I cook it until it reduces and all the veg are nice and soft (about an hour on medium heat) and then add the tomato ketchup and taste for seasoning. I make the sauce by melting the butter and mixing in the flour and adding the milk until the sauce is thickened. If it gets too thick I add more milk - it should be fairly runny, then I add 50g grated cheddar.
I layer up oven ready lasagne sheets, mince, sauce and so on until dish is full and end with a sauce layer, which I top with the other 50g cheddar and little bit of grated parmesan. I cook it for about an hour on 160 and it is lovely with salad and crusty bread!!Jane

I use the Dolmio sauces as well, but when I put the oil in, I put some Garlic and Ginger in to flavout it. When the meat is frying, I put some seasoning on it. something like everyday seasoning or all purpose seasoning. Gives it that little kick!0

I've never made lasagne (though I love eating it!), but I actually have some fresh lasagne sheets from the chiller section to make a veggie lasagne (Good Food recipe) later this week. Do I have to cook the sheets first?
I'll have to make someone's meat lasagne one week................ Mmmmmmm!Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
You shouldn't have to cook the sheets first Vicky. Putting them in the lasagne will cook them enough.

I do a chicken and cheese lasagne
Couple of chicken breasts sliced thin and fried off with some onions, garlic and a splash of white wine. Add some thinly sliced courgette and some sliced brocolli (already part steamed).
Starting with a layer of lasagne, I add the chicken and veg and some grated cheese, a dollop of a runny cheese sauce and then contine to layer. Sauce again on the top with some grated cheese, sometimes a sliced tomato on the top for colour. Bake at 180degrees for about 40-45 mins........yummmmmy served with crusty bread."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0
