Yeah that's a Firefox thing, it does it when I write posts using a text editor and paste it across. I was feeling a bit demob happy (I've got a week off next week - am going to France) and so posted from work which I don't do often.
Zammo's a BNP supporter IIRC. If there's one thing that's worse than a common or garden socialist it's a fascist. They're the worst kind of socialists as they're not even honest about it. I can't be bothered to argue with fascists, I oppose their every stance and let them condemn themselves with their own words. Life's too short to enter debate with idiots like that. You ask: What is our aim? I can answer in one word. It is victory. Victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror. However long or hard the road may be; for without victory there is no survival.Still applies today....0 -

One of the few Great Men. My favourite is:The nation had the lion's heart. I had the luck to give the roarIf you've not been, Chartwell is a wonderful place to visit. There are some pictures in the museum section of him visiting various places and being mobbed by people that loved him. You can see it in their faces - I couldn't imagine any current politician being adored like that.
There's a great photo of Churchill being driven in an open topped car (staff car?) through the streets of Marseilles and a dock-hand wearing a white vest with an unlit Gauloise in his mouth leaning forward from the crowd to light Churchills cigar as his drives past and Churchill appearing to accept the favour happily.
Can you imagine any of the 648(?) current MPs acheiving even a fraction of what he did in his life? He was a flawed man but a brilliant one and lets face it, we're all flawed in our own way.mr.broderick wrote: »Where in france?
We're staying near St Omer for no better reason than it's dead easy to get to from Kent. We'd stay for a holiday in England only the food is terrible and I need to work off a few pounds from this crazy 14-16 hour a day job that I've been doing and cycling in France is great whereas cycling in the UK is horrendous.0 -

I never get 'beat up' about the UK bnp.
bring 'em on and let's engage in useful discussion.... er... I just remembered the excellent movie 'this is england'.
but never let the bnp be silenced in this great democracy of ours.
listening to their arguments has made politics interesting again - even if it makes my sides 'fit to burst'.miladdo0 -

Sounds good, went to caen last year for 3 days, just for a break...got a great memorial there with all the d day stuff...they had a girder from the world trade centre on display, you could smell the death.0 -
just to square you up: I retain some of vestiges of common-or-garden socialist. with the rise of thatcher, I was faced with a choice: do I support a party that advocates the free market philosophy or do I do full-on socialism, which doesn't do unrealistic HPI?
tough choice.
ah, but then I was full of pathetic, youthful ideals along the lines of 'how do I leave the world a better place than I found it?'
I've grown up since then. now I know that being a common-or-garden socialist was incredibly naive.miladdo0 -
Despite all the meanderings about L/R politics
The reason why Talktalk is losing customers is that thier customer service was/is dreadful . I speak from personal experience, worst worst ever. ALso http://theregister.co.uk points out industry experts expect mobile internet (usb dongles, iphones etc) to take greater than 50% share of the market within 5 years and more than 80% within 10 years. Simply take it with you.tribuo veneratio ut alius quod they mos veneratio vos0 -

Thatcher was great (small g) in her way. She opposed Corportism, the Tory version of socialism despite everyone opposing her.
I know I post a lot of snobbish stuff but it's most in jest.
I believe in Libertarianism - freedom for all. Probably Libertarism-lite really. Freedom for all, help for the tiny minority that really need it. Let people live their lives the way they see fit as long as they don't bother anyone else with it. Pay your own way in the world.
I was a member of the Labour party when I was 18. Then I realised what they really stood for which is the arrogance to decide how others should live and to force it upon them using the full force of the state.
What all this has to do with house prices I don't know! Anyway, allons y demain. Bon courage mes braves (as Chuchill probably didn't say).0 -
