I am happy to contact that hostel if everyone ok with it, and will need definite confirmation early next year I imagine.

I think that someone local should pm address and then get people to post their cheques by a certain date and then they could go and book it for definite. Does this sound ok?

I shall ring the hostel and say that it might be a 20-ish people thing, just to be on the safe side. They need to know so they can fit us in.

    OK here goes:

Weekend of Fri 4- Sat. 5 March is stillok for our number (20-ish), so is the following weekend.

They have 18 persons dorms or 10 persons dorms, if we are 20 they can do 2 dorms for 10.

If we arrive on Fri. night it costs £14.50 pp including breakfast.

If we arrive Sat. night it costs £20 pp inc. breakfast.

We need to balance that added cost against the cost of trains on Fridays (difficult to get reduced/cheap transport on Friday).

The deadline for confirmation is mid-january.

We would need to pay 25% deposit on booking and full paym 1 mth in advance of date.

So we need to get cracking if we want this to happen.

    Friday or Saturday?

    Who's collecting the cheques?

    Sounds great, Lillibet!

But even those who cannot take time off from work can always travel in the evening and be there for the 'feast' that we should really be able to cook in the hostel kitchen spending 25 pence per person Hehehehehehehehheheheh!!! ;)

Let's put our money where our mouths are (Literally!).

Or maybe not - given that this will be our first meet maybe we ought to be generous with ourselves and others and stretch to £1 per person!  I bet we could have a really nice dinner of veg & lentil soup, bread and cheese/ham, salad and baked apples for that sum or less (wine apart of course).

I would be happy to help cook and I am sure that even the least skilled cook could slice bread and cheese and core apples!

Weekend would probably be best for me. I'd be travelling up from the midlands, and don't want to use any more holidays.

The Mickelgate offers kitchen facilities for 'independant travellers' - would we be classed as this or as a group?
