Johanne .......sorry your feeling bad still.Cant believe Tesco's can warn your for being genuinely ill! Is it just your manager who is a tartar? If so,couldnt you complain to head office?

Had to buy DS his monthly bus ticket this morning.I also bought a sharpening stone and some files in poundland so I can sharpen up my garden tools.
Im making chicken soup for tea to eat with all our ends of loaves that have been taking up space in the freezer.
The french beans are finally doing well and I have 2 meals worth(for 4 people each) frozen .
2 lots of washing hung out on the line.OH irons his and DS shirts as I hate ironing so dont do any myself.Kids iron their own if they want to.
They have been ordered to tidy their rooms this weekend as the floor has got lost and is badly needed :D

Poor you Johanne, hope you feel better soon and it's awful that your bosses are so unsympathetic. Surely if you have a doctors certificate for each absence they can't sack you, no matter how many absences. I'd have thought you'd have grounds for an employment tribunal, might be worth speaking to CAB.

I have had a really good day. This morning I did clean and polish everywhere, it's just the hoovering outstanding, will do that once I've posted this. OH was busy mowing the lawn for the last time this year and weeding the beds.

After lunch I went to a jumble sale. I LOVE jumble sales and it seems like there are harly any nowadays compared to when I was younger. I got some bargains- an apron for 10p (needed one too), 4 tops and shirts for 20p each, and a pair of lovely curtains that will look perfect with our coulour scheme in the living room for only 35p!! Admittedly they are way too long but OH's aunt is very good on the sewing machine and I'm sure will shorten them if we ask nicely. I'm so pleased!

Dinner will be cheese potato pie with tinned spaghetti (to fit in with my diet, I'm really back on it now). So just have to quickly hoover then peel the spuds.

    Sarah.

Nope its company policy! Each store has an "acceptable" level of abscence i think set by HO. Ours is set at 3%. Once it goes above that (and its easy to do!) you get pulled in for an "investigatory" then a "displinary" straight after unless u can wiggle your way out somehow (i.e. abscence due to accidents at work arent counted).

I was ill with tonsilitis (suffer badly) and had 10 days off... taking my up to over 3% so i got my verbal warning. It means if your off again in 8 weeks after your meeting you go to the next stage of disciplinary... i collapsed in the toilets (exhaustion i think) knocking myself out.. a week before my verbal warning ran out.. i missed only 2 hours off my shift.. but got took to the next level of disciplinary and didnt count as an accident at work because i was in the toilets not on the shopfloor and it wasnt caused by something to do with the business. So that put me onto my first written warning....which means no illness for 13 weeks then last weekend i was in work for about 2 days with a bad rash.. 3rd night couple of people said looked like measles so i left at 1am to get it checked out as there were lots of people with young babies and a pregnant girl i was in contact with and I personally didnt wanna put them at risk... went the out of ours doctors surgery got told they couldnt tell (sunday morning 2am no blood tests could be done) and to go to my own doctors on monday but to stay away from work.... went to doctors monday.. too late to tell if german measles as rash mostly gone.. BUT got a serious viral throat infection.. and have to stay off work for at least another week.. im not back now for another 5 days. Sooooo i'll be on my final written warning when i go in. That means if im off again within the next 26 weeks.. its P45! Tesco seem a law in their own hands because this is with 2 genuine doctors notes aswell. Great isnt it?!

Yep Monkeylugs you guessed it! I'm having a Slimming World green day. I just boiled up the potatoes, mashed them with a little skimmed milk and the tiniest amount of marg, spooned it into an ovenproof dish, grated on the cheese and seasonings and bunged it under the grill for a few minutes. It's yummy with either tinned spaghetti, baked beans or tinned tomatoes. OH loves it and doesn't moan at me for making him 'diet' foods!

just got my first ever online grocery shop... 95% ok but a few mistakes.. one in particular im gutted about cos was looking forward to treating myself tonight with some pringles.. and theyve sent dippers instead of normal ones!! :( Theyve subbed when i asked them not to aswell so ive ended up with a few things i dont like... but the delivery man went without showing me the seperate subs bag so i didnt know what exactly had been subbed in place cos the descriptions werent very good.. oh and they subbed my strawberry jelly i ordered so i now have twice the amount of raspberry i wanted.. and half the amount of strawberry! tut. Ah well guess something had to go wrong... its punishment for shopping at Asda when i work for tesco. lol
  • Nothing dramatic today. It was nice and sunny in Kent today with just one bout of heavy showers. Managed to get the back lawn mowed and tidied up the borders.

Some butterflies were about – Red Admirals feeding on the Sedum Spectibles. The fishpond is now quite clean and tidy and a lot of the dead plant material is now on the compost heap. The Gold Fish are happy and feeding well – they know winter is on the way. Gave the mower a really good scrub and clean but will service it fully later in the year.

Made a huge, giant, salad, wholemeal sandwich at lunchtime…lettuce, tomato, cheddar, boiled egg, cucumber, spring onion and salad cream… well I was ravenously hungry – hee hee. :D

Johanne - I've never shopped at Asda online (don't deliver in my area) so no idea how they work, but with Tesco deliveries the driver shows you your list so you can see if anything has been subbed and you have every right not to accept those items if you're not happy with them and the driver takes them back and you get refunded.

I know you're off work sick right now, but is there any reason you can't do your shopping online with Tesco if Asda is such a bad service? They can hardly accuse of anything for having a home delivery when you're sick!

yeah i could have refused but i ordered 160+ items (26 bags!! ) and in the rush to get them in.. (driver seemed really eager to get gone) he just shoved the bags all together and inside each other. So actually couldnt find the subs bags till hed gone.

I could have used tesco but im literally round the corner.. (can see the back of work from my living room window) and would feel silly :o ..... plus i was making use of a £10 off £50 spend voucher and some brill bogofs/multisaves for asda hehe. ;)

On a less serious note.. my ex-boyfriend works on dot com in my store - and i wouldnt want him getting given my order.. imagine what he might do to the stuff! lol  :rotfl: :rotfl:

Well, all I can say is you're lucky you only got 26 bags for your 160+ items! If that had been Tesco, I can guarantee you'd have ended up with 100+ bags!!!

... and you think I'm kidding????? ... nope, one item per bag is quite usual from them!
