DD's are painting away merrily in the kitchen, everything else is done.... for now!

Made some flavoured oils up for inlaws xmas pressies last night - a chilli one and a garlic one - they smell divine!

After washing my new table down yesterday I thought most of the smell had gone but this morning it smells as bad as ever.....any suggestions on getting rid of the smell of smoke???

  • Hi All, :hello:
I love reading this thread it makes me chuckle. My OH is just the same - hopeless. :wall: I hope Mrs MATH knows how lucky she is. ;)
Nice to see Ancasta back, I was wondering where she was! :hello:
I have decorated the porch with a few halloween things bought last year, pumpkin candles etc, and orange and black balloons. We have a carved pumpkin too, must remember to find a tea light to go inside it, and we put some sweets in the porch ready. (Last year we didnt have any trick or treaters) Like Bargain Rzl I suppose its not very christian, but its only fun for the kids and reasonably harmless, although up until last year my DD2 who is just 7 was scared of trick or treaters and used to hide.
Tomorrow night both girls have a halloween party at Brownies and are dressing up. DD2's first time at Brownies and she is very excited! :j
Both DD's have an inset day today, we have had a rather longer than planned lie in. We are going to do some banking and buy Operation Xmas Child goodies for our box, and pop to my dads 'cos its his birthday tomorrow. _party_ Hairdresser is coming later to trim my hair, I need to put a colour on it this afternoon. May get round to ebaying some stuff later! I have a book called "Cheap and Easy" (!!!!) from the library, its vegetarian recipes by Rose Elliot. Am trawling my way through it, need to write down a few recipes to try. Back to school and work tomorrow. _pale_

Better go and have a shower.
  • Im gonna be in a mad flap when i get in cuz i said i would carve the pumpkin for OH getting home from work but i have to do a quick 10 min blitz of the house. eeeek. I hate doing rush jobs.

Sarahsaver we used sleeping bags when we had the bed wetting thing as they do fit in the machine. You do need a waterproof sheet under.DD used to even have pee in her hair when it was just sheets as the waterproof sheet used to puddle up.The sleeping bag soaked it up more.

Yesterday was shopping day and I managed to go by myself for a change, so no sulking OH looking at the chocolate shelves. He had motorbike maintainance to do.
He managed to tell the neighbours at the bottom of the garden about their fence and they said they thought it was ours.Anyway they have sured it back up(after checking their deeds).
Its been raining all morning here so no gardening or laundry drying.
Ive got to go out later as DS needs a new bus ticket for the new half term and the cashback thingy was not working yesterday(so no cash till I get to the bank).
DD wants to make herself a night dress so we might get a look around the haberdashers. We'll be making our own pattern so that will keep us busy(the cat usually walks all over them as the floor is the only area big enough to spread the paper out). Im off to make sandwiches(fishfinger) and a cuppa.

  • Hi all

I dont often post here, but do lurk regularly! I just had to share my excitement at how 'old-stylee' I am today!

I made pumpkin soup for my lunch. The outside of the pumpkin is sitting outside my house scaring all the neighbours away.

I also made Banana Cake with some very ripe bananas that I would have only thrown away.

I also have a couple of lovely apples from the apple tree outside our house. I have been looking at them ripening for the last couple of weeks and was never brave enough to actually eat one. But I took the plunge yesterday and they are SO delicious. No more shop bought apples for me!

I also have home made yoghurt - well made with my EasiYo.

Hi ya Squeaky, how are ya? Heard you were a bit under the weather, so nice to see you here.

Aussie Lass - I hope everything goes well with Benny, at least the vet didn't go "oh dear it's xxx disease" - so fingers Xed it will sort itself out.

I had a rough night...some silly twerp was letting off fireworks at 4.00 am. Oh I was fuming with him (OK it might have been a her...). Then around 5.30 am someone called and said "Can I have a taxi please....". My number used to be a taxi firm's, and these calls are few and far between, but even so, why don't people get rid of their ancient Yellow Pages? If they called during the day I'd go "where from, where to, do you want a merc or a BMW, do you want a man or woman driver, what colour car do you want, do you want a non-smoking vehicle. OK we can do that, it'll be three hours and cost £45".

Am home for lunch...came back to see my gorgous Ted - my new ginger and white puddy cat. He is a stunner, will post a photo one of these days. Think I am going to go back and get a really cute kitten who was also available. He'll be called Dougal...as in Fr Ted, and Fr Dougal from that silly comedy Fr Ted.

Have to go back to work now...UGGGGH!!!!

    Bye!

    Have a fab Monday.

    SnowyOwl.
