This is OH's weekend at work (only one per month), so it's my weekend to catch up with all the cleaning & ironing.
Washing was in overnight & is now in tumbler, brekkie pots need to go in DW & that can go on. Then I'm off the the veg shop to stock up. I pay him £30 a month & have still got £12 left.
Went to tesco's yesterday & spent £72 , but before BOGOFs & vouchers it should have been £86! That did include a case of beer & quite a few bottles of wine, as well as loads of meat, so I'm not too bothered. Bank account is looking pretty healthy & it's payday on Monday. Got my meals sorted for the week & if time allows I'm going to make most of them today or tomorrow.
Very pleased with Rotary - my watch broke last week so the jewellers sent it away to Rotary & it's back already. Postie brought it this morning. I don't know which I was more shocked by - my watch being repaired so quick or seeing the postman before 9am!!!
  • Youngest DD is watching over my shoulder as I type shouting "that looks like my Daddy" at the picture of Martin   :p

Lol!! Funnily enough my DD (19 months) pointed at Martin and said 'daddy' the other day!! Poor Martin will get some sort of bad rep :rotfl:

    Morning all,

Hooray it's Saturday! I've been working day and evening the past 2 days so have only now just had a chance to catch up on last 2 days' threads.

WM is on, will hang out a load on the airer as the whites I did yesterday should be dry by now.

Got our first water bill today since we went to metered option, and it's significantly less than what we paid- glad our efforts to be more careful with water useage have been rewarded.

I'm going to put the oven on in a mo and bake a batch of banana muffins- just the job to use up the almost black bananas in the fruit bowl.

I did have a quick look on the October grocery challenge as I was sure I had joined in and posted my goal, but must have just mentally decided it and forgotten to post as I couln't see it. Anyway, I started on 1st Oct and today is the last day, as long as I spend no more than £13.40 I will have kept to my budget. I have the cupboards fairly well stocked so this should be easy, this means we will have only spent £85 for the whole month for the 2 of us on food.

Hope to have a general tidy and clean round the house, off to have a shower once the muffins are in the oven.

    Have a great day,
    sarah.

Morning all! Nice to hear that, so far, everyone's having a good day!!

Have no major plans for today, OH has decided not to go to the footy today (yippee!!) as I've had the kids all week! Will be nice just to spend some time together!;)

WM needs to go on, looks very grey outside so don't know whether I'll be able to hang it out. Finished the ironing last night (whilst watching that programme on BBC1 re: spending other people's money!) Did anyone else watch it? (It was on around 7.30pm.) If so, could you believe the attitude of that guy? He spent £8 on a 'top of the range' TOOTHPASTE!!

Need to have a shower in a minute (before OH catches me on here - AGAIN!!)

Did a month's worth of toiletry shopping yesterday (at Wilkinson/Superdrug) and spent about £28. Tesco shop due today aswell.

Dinner tonight is garlic chicken with jacket potatoes & salad.

Hope everyone has an EXCELLENT day:D :D

Will check in with you all later:wave:

    .....

:rotfl: :rotfl: I caught the tale of it ... didn't he also spend an equal amount on mouthwash, too? The part I caught was his bill of £90 odd pounds just on toiletries, and his friends £11.49 ... and that they didn't complete the "experiment" :rotfl: Wow! What an eye opener :D:D:D

    Morning everyone :D

It's nice to see the old thread started by Queenie again :)

Anyway, I'm being a lazy moo this morning :D Only got up around 10 and have just finished my porridge and tea, although had a long chat to my sister on the phone in the middle of it. However, DS2 fell out of bed at 3am which woke me and ds2, (but not Mr TM obviously) so then I spent ages afterwards trying to get back to sleep but getting more and more annoyed at the snoring I was forced to listen to. He'll moan when he gets up that I spent all night kicking and punching him. Hey Ho :D:D Yes - it's nearly 11 and he's still snoring.

Today I shall be running a marathon - around the house. I need to get the WM going again - although it's a lovely day here so stuff can go on the line. Also, I will be clearing the car out and starting to pack it for the boot sale. Most of the stuff is in the attic bedroom so that'll be good for the thighs :) I can price up as I go then. I've got my bum-bag and change sorted out so will have to remember the flask and butties too.

If I get chance I'll make some more of CQ's base sauce otherwise I'll just have plain lamb for tea. Need to get a chicken out of the freezer for tomorrow - if I get it ready then Mr TM can switch it on when he goes out. (note to self: put notes around kitchen for Mr TM to see)

OK, showered calling and work to do. Have a lovely one, everyone, and erm, how many kiddies does Martin have
  • Hi All!
Went to see Disney On Ice yesterday. DD's really enjoyed it, I wanted to see an ice show as I never have before, Disney is not really my thing tbh. It was good, but not fabulous, OH and I agreed. I couldnt believe other people though. The tickets were quite expensive, (a present to us though so v. moneysaving) and I know its a kid thing really, but it was like trying to watch a show whilst sitting in the middle of a busy train station! People getting up for drinks, 2 mins later getting up for popcorn, kids standing on seats and jumping up and down. I know my two are a bit older now but I have always made them sit still and quiet so as not to annoy people around them. Felt my stress levels rising as I was getting so annoyed with rude people! Got home at 7pm, all starving so went to fish and chip shop for quick cheap takeaway!

Mr Pea and DD's have showered and dressed and gone to safari park for their free return trip. I didnt really fancy it, I went with girls in summer hols so sent Mr Pea and I'm having a baking day. (First I need to make beds, change sheets on our bed, have a shower and feed guinea pigs) I also have 5 washloads to do, sheets, towels, whites, coloureds, and DD2's coat. I'll have to space them out though as Im planning on shutting myself in the kitchen with Harry Potter 4 I have on audio tape from library to listen to. I'm a bit hard of hearing and hate wearing my hearing aids around the house so I dont think I will be able to hear Harry P over the noise of the washing machine.
I'm making a range of frozen meals as Im back at work next week until Xmas School hols and I dont want any excuse for shop bought ready meals, and Im also making cakes and cookies.
Just had tea and toast for brekky, lunch will be (so I dont have to bother too much) an Aldi cheese and onion pasty I bought specially yesterday and tea is going to be fish pie if the salmon has defrosted.
Right Im off for a shower.

Forgot to say "Congratualations to Powie69 !!!" Excellent news on your driving test. It took me 5 goes too, but I was determined not to give up. Took a while to get used to being a driver but Im soooo glad I stuck at it. Its so liberating to be able to get in the car and go wherever you want. Well done!

    Hi everyone!
Here I am pretending to work again!! Have had a fab half term with a couple of days off so have been able to catch up at home. We had friends over last night for the curry takeaway off the board from here which I teamed up with HM ginger cake courtesy of the BM and HM apple punch. Went down a treat. The small person has been busy planning all sorts of Halloween games and fortunately as he's got an inset day we'll have time to go for the whole tasteful Halloween tea [recipes pinched from here]. Pumpkins still need to be carved. Have invested in some highly delicious pumpkin candles from Wilko along with one or two items to really give the full effect. I think actually he's just the excuse I needed to buy this stuff- I wanted it really.!!
We're off this afternoon to visit a pumpkin shop and apparently they decorate the whole building. Can't wait!
    Have a good weekend

  • Morning all, It is so nice to hear that you are having such a positive time!
I have some ironing to do later today, I managed to catch up on some in the week and sort of the ironing cupboard so now I have a pile of stuff that I will actually wear after it has been ironed! One load of washing to go in the machine. Gotta clean the bathroom probably, thats after I have finished catching up on here of course!

We are going out to look for a bigger freezer today, yay!! I have filled the 2 we already have with all my OS cooking! We have one in the kitchen and one in the garage, the one in the garage is old now and leaks to that one is going and we are getting a tall one for the garage, just a cheap one of course.

I hope everyone has a good saturday, take it easy!
