  • Sorry, probably being simple but lets say I get hold of £50 worth of these vouchers, which have no clubcard number on them. Cna i then go get a clubcard and then assoicate them with my new clubcard account and convert to BA Miles? sorry, just sounds to simple.

Sorry to resurrect this, but I've got £65 in tesco vouchers, worth £260 if I use them on deals.
I queried whether this was cost effective before. How can 15600 BA miles (enough for one European flight - maybe £150 tops) be an efficient use of £260 worth of tesco points?

I'm confused. You say that you have £65 worth of tesco vouchers then you say you have £260 worth of vouchers. How much is it? How do you get them from £65 up to £260?

If you spend your £65 worth in vouchers on Clubcard deals (days out, holidays, meals etc) they are worth 4 x as much as face value.

£65 in tesco clubcard vouchers is worth 4x as much in deals with mfi or avis for example. 65 x 4 = £260 in deals or just the face value in store

Short-haul economy flights are not good use of the miles from Tesco. If you use them on long haul Club and First class you get much more value from them - see my earlier post in this thread.

Well for 25,000 BA miles you can upgrade a return trip from World Traveller Plus to Business (flat bed) - so two examples for August 2006:
Club LHR to New York JFK £2,271
WT+ Upgraded to club with 25,000 miles £1,048

Club LHR to San Francisco £2,790.90
WT+ Upgraded to club with 25,000 miles £1,166.90

So in this example 10,450 clubcard points, worth £104.50 or £418 in deals converts to 25,080 BA miles and is worth £1,223 to £1,624 - pretty good value if you plan to travel in that class.

But business is bad value, and I wouldn't have considered buying that, so I don't think it's a saving. I would only be able to upgrade for one leg at the moment. Is it still good if you use it to upgrade to WT plus?

50000 BA Miles gets you a BA USA return flight = £208 Tesco vouchers.

NB You need to take 1 BA flight to get an Executive Club card. That's the only problem I see.

With the double points bonus at the moment, that's £1040 spend at Tesco for a free flight. Quite a lot by anybody's standards, but if you use a lot of petrol or can persuade friends/families not to use their clubcard ,but just give you their receipt, you can probably make that quite easily......
