OK, this is on the same theme as the Tesco Clubcard Holidays thread, BUT...
Once the points are transferred to a BA Executive Club card, they aren't identifiable as Tesco points, so there should be no problem with the higher prices for Clubcard bookings.
12000 BA Miles gets you a BA Domestic/Most Europe return flight = £50 Tesco vouchers.
20000 BA Miles gets you a BA Balearics return flight = £83 Tesco vouchers.
50000 BA Miles gets you a BA USA return flight = £208 Tesco vouchers.
100000 BA Miles gets you a BA AUSTRALIA return flight = £416 Tesco vouchers.
Someone find something in the terms and conditions which makes this wrong please????
NB You need to take 1 BA flight to get an Executive Club card. That's the only problem I see.

Does anyone know if there is any additional tax or charges on top of that?
or even additional fuel duty? All that glisters is not gold, except moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Fuel surcharges are included in the basic ticket price with BA on some flights(I think). Taxes and surcharges would be on top of the BA Miles-purchased ticket price on international flights, so you would have to pay them.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0

So, the chance to fly with BA for free for some reason isn't a Grabbit and gets moved to Shop But Don't Drop, whilst offers for a few pence off food stay as Grabbits....
Very strange!!!!!British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
are flights in business/club ? otherwise £50 would buy 1200 normal airmiles, - europe normally less than this
or spend the vouchers on other deals, and source cheapest flights for cashAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -

Grabbit is for short-term bargains only as noted in the posting guide, everything else should go in Shop but don't drop or any other relevant board.

1 BA mile appears to be worth 10 Airmiles, as you only get 60 Airmiles for £2.50 Clubcard.
The number of miles/return flight is only a guide. You appear to be quoted much lower mileage levels when you try and book.
Eg: BA Website says 'Canada' is 50,000 BA Miles, booking quotation asks for 30,000 for Vancouver return - ie the far side!British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
airmiles are also "fluid" pricing these days - suppose only way to compare would be to get exact quotes at the same time ( are they still ecomony)Any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0

Sorry Iankirk but unfortunately, when you book any BA flights will miles, all taxes, fees and fuel charges are payable on top. This means that these "free" flights are far from free. A return from Edinburgh to Heathrow costs £46.20 plus 12,000 BA miles.
Given that my brother has just booked a flight with BMI for the same route for £50 that means that the £50 of Tesco vouchers had a value of about £4!
I realise that I have picked a fairly extreme example but it is actually pretty illustrative of the point.
Personally I use mine to buy Blockbuster DVD rental.0 -
Bad example. Domestic flights are crap value with BA - my company pays anything between £89 and £350 for a return flight for me between Glasgow and Stornoway...compare that to a discount £100 return to Lanzarote which is a flight of about 20 times the distance!!!
Just used my BA Exec account to get a quotation and a return to Vancouver effectively costs £125 in Clubcard vouchers (30000 BA Miles/600 x £2.50) plus taxe/surcharge.
An example flight I've just looked at for Vancouver adds £112.80 in fuel surcharges and taxes, so you're quite right they do add it on afterwards, but that's still £238 return to Vancouver, which is LESS THAN HALF the cheapest fare you will find.
PS...You RENT DVDs from Blockbuster...now THAT's a bad use of Clubcard Vouchers!!!British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
Check out https://www.flyertalk.com BA exec area for more info about this. They rave on about exchanging tesco CC points for first class/club class BA travel. I've worked out the sums but personally it doesn't work out worth-while for me.... But it will do for regular flyers etc.0
