Went up to say good night to DD and she was totally lost in a book. I told her that I was really pleased that she was able to do this and how much I enjoyed reading. I then suggested that she might like to experiment and try some different authors and she flew into a strop as I was criticising her.
Hmmm sounds so familiar!! Sooo glad I'm not alone! I feel we should start a support group and call it Parents Going Through Puberty!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -

            great thread, I have 2 girls 15 and 11. 15 year old is SO sensitive, I never have a clue what kind of mood she will be in from hour to hour. She spends all her time on the internet doing role play (wolves?!) or reading, she doesn't socialise and is very quiet, not promblematic in the usual way (drinking, boys, piercings etc etc), but sometimes is more worrying because I just want her to be happy and have friends.
The 11 year old is young for her age, still like to play shops and suchlike, so a lot of her peers just ignore her and go around in their gangs, she has friends, but usually younger.
I worry sick about both of them, but neither of them are as bad as me at that age, moody, dark, depressed and antisocial, so at least that's one thing!0 -

Welcome to PGTP(A) - Parents Going Through Puberty (Again)!!
Well, my DD has now been taking Evening Primrose Oil for a couple of weeks - she says she thinks they're working to relieve hormonal stress (but only when she's at school
 )
Never mind, she's off on a school trip on Monday for 5 days - we'll miss her like crazy! But the peace and quiet will be lovely!!! Maybe she'll appreciate us more when she comes back.....:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -

or Our Little Darlings Feel A Really Terrible Switch,
then you really would be old farts.:p
I'm glad you're all keeping your sense of humour, and trying your best to be there for your terrible teens! My Dd is only 9 but already has days when everything seems to have gone against her and she needs a good cry.
fwiw my mother was menopausal when I was going through puberty, so I was never really allowed to vent or show any sign of needing a cuddle / extra chocolate / a kind word here and there. Thank goodness we have sites like this where we can ask for help and support and share ideas to help each other!!Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19
