Decided to have a go at no sew blankets (thanks for links and advice from those who have made them!). It wasn't until I looked at the links again this weekend I realised they are completely no sew - perfect for me
I just wanted to ask, is there a good place to buy fleece? I found some Batman fleece on ebay which would be good for DS1 (haven't bought it yet, wanted to compare prices etc first). I liked sethsgran's idea of using an Ikea fleece blanket on the reverse but would like some ideas on where to buy patterned fleece.
I'm thinking of making one each for DS1 and 2, one for my nan and maybe one for my m&d.
Thank you:wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
I have been looking for fleece too, but thought it was really expensive - some plain ones are £7.99 + a metre - is that ok or expensive?0

our dunelm mill sells it for £4.99 metre plain and a bit more for patterned but it is really wide double width i think over 2 metres anyway
I bought navy to make all my pram blankets (DS now 7)i just cut it and used a long zig-zag stitch to catch the hem ....................my point is they still look like new no fraying or anything .
Grandad has one for his afternoon snooze and we have some for "poorly blankets" when kids are ill
I am decorating the 7 yr olds room soon and they do camoflage too thinking of doing reversible quilt covers with it

Check out your local market etc I usually manage to get mine for around £5-6 mtr. If you want both sides plain then just get 2 fleece throws from Ikea of contrasting colours. I did a red and cream one for a niece last christmas and both came from Ikea. When they are knotted together they are lovely and warm even the thinner fleece works well on this.
Just done a quick search and Abakhan have an online shop check out their prices for fleece.............

I really could cry
I so envy you folks with all these wonderful places that are withing easy reach....our nearest Ikea is over two hours drive away & apparently they have some excellent bargains in their sales [just come from the Finished Baskets thread
] no Poundland, Mills, cash & carry... even a really small Aldi is 60 miles away:(
I've just had another  whilst on the other thread, about seeing if the Post Office still does savings stamps for things like Road Tax & TV licence. Thought I could get a few pounds worth of the Road tax ones for the two offspring who are currently car owners & make up a little car-care hamper to go with it. I'll have a think on designing a 'waste paper bin' to hang from the front seat head-rest & maybe a dolly bag effort for keeping things like demister cloth, tissues etc inside the car.....hmmm...& m'be a boot organiser for the ice scraper, jump leads etc.....now I'm really getting ahead on my planning---hope the execution of said plans will be as enthusiastic:pFull time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.

sethsgran - thank you for that site. The fleece on there is fab - think iwill be buying some of that personaly as it looks lovely - especially the red and white stuff and at £2.95 its a bargain. Will be costing me £11.50 for 2 meters red, 2 meters white with posting and packaging.
cant fault it. I was looking at fleece on ebay and the guy wanted £10.00 for the fleece itself plus postage of £9!!! then i said if i but multiple packs woud he do me a discount ont eh postage so if i brought 2 @ £10 each he would do my postage for £17.99 - oh the discount was trememndous - all 1p of it.
   will be using your site form now on. looks lovelyTime to find me again0 -

BigMummaF - yes they do still sell the car tax stamps. They are £5 each, I know this because I asked last week when taxing my car. However now they are a general stamp which can be paid towards car tax or towards bills at the post office!
Do you have a home bargains near? they generally have road atlas's in there for about 39p whic would be another good adition. Failing that keep your eyes peeled as places like Asda etc do a car care kit for around £3 which has de icer/de mister pad/screenwash etc in it. Also how about a magic tree? (air freshener!) only 69p ish from asdaRaising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -
Sethsgran - Thanks very much for the link - the fleece is gorgeous. Can anyone tell me how much I need for each blanket - a toddler size and a full size one? Many thanks0

do you know what those stamps might be a thoughtful gift in light of all the prices going up :T - ive been stumped what to get my sister but i think i might jsut pay her car tax for her. Shes only in a cheapy little run around but im sure shes pays £66 - think thats 6 months but even that would be a help to her (shes a single mummy to two young girls - ages almost 3 and almost 1) so think i may do that for her. Will get her an actual nice little gift and presents made for her girls but i think if i got her a nice card she could then have all the stamps nicely in there ready to tax her car with. 14 weeks @ £5 - bargain.Time to find me again0

a small lap blanket (right size for a toddler) is 1.5 meters and a snuggling blanket is 2 meters.
so if you want to do a two sided no sew fleece you would need 3 meters for the toddler one and 4 for the snuggling oneTime to find me again0
