    Hi all!

I never thought I would be able to make a sock monkey either. I actually failed textiles at school!! But I thought I would be brave and give it a go anyway and the pink one is monkey number 4 for me. I made the first one for my other half as a jokey anniversary pressie. I made it from the socks I wore on our first date (washed of course!! ;) )
    I found the instructions here:

    http://www.craftbits.com/viewProject.do?projectID=1104

I brought a range of socks from poundland so they worked out at 50p a pair. I hand sew them (as you can see) as I don't have a sewing machine.

Yesterday after finishing my sock monkey I had a strip of material left and the recycler in me wanted to do something with it so I made a dammit doll for someone as a little stocking filler!!

    Hi All

Well I went out scourinng the charitiy shops near me yesterday and there was a fair bit of material - mainyl old sheets and scarfs etc (i was mainly looking for material to line curtains with as it is BLOODY freezing here latelyin good ol south wales.

Anywho, I found this material which i thought was pretty and would make the pyjama bags for my two little nieces and then any spare i can possibly make into a peg bag for mysefl or im sure i can find a few ideas for other things to do with it.

(btw it is actually a double sheet, and it cost me 99p from the Oxfam shop)

I need to be careful here guys...I've just had a bright idea! ;)

Going to need some advice about it from you lovely ladies though! Was looking on a thread here about putting photos onto canvas and now I want to paint an image on a canvas for my boyfriend! He is a huge iron maiden fan and was thinking of painting a picture of their mascot Eddy onto canvas to give him for Xmas. I enjoy painting etc put haven't done it for a while I do have all the paint etc though so that shouldn't be a problem.

I was wondering if anyone had a good method of outlining an image. Was thinking of somehow projecting one on rather that trying to draw one out.

Hmmm this will need some thought me thinks.

a good way of doing outlines is to use greaseproof paper or baking sheet - its clear enough that you can see through it but thick enough that it does not tear easily.

    HTH somehow

Aaaahhhhhh!!!! Stupid ********* box. Tried decorating the other box yesterday - absolutely horrendous, but I MUST succeed as I have used loads of paper on it already. I don't think I'll decorate another of these boxes it is too hard! Ok rant over!
Sammy-kaye18 - the material is gorgeous, can't wait to see the finished articles.
Siren137 - ta for the link for the sock monkey - they are so cute!
I wanted to mention that you can get samples of fabric from Cath Kidston. If you visit her website and choose the fabric you want, if you click on it there should be a yellow box stating "request sample". I'm not sure how many samples you are allowed to get, but its free postage and mine took a few days to arrive. By the way you don't have to order anything else! I thought the swatches would be good for covering things e.g notebooks or for making those hanging things that you put dried lavender in. Size wise they are about 15x20 cms.
Mary43 - I used double sided tape to stick my paper on, pva glue I would think be good as you can move it around into place once it is stuck

I did 4 rugby canvasses for my son but they were a very basic silhouette type picture http://s161.photobucket.com/albums/t204/soblivion/?action=view&current=100_0535.jpg
I printed a picture from the web onto card, cut it out and drew round the card onto the canvas. As I say these were only basic and I'm not sure what an "Eddy" is to know if this idea will work for you too.
Hope it may be a bit of help though.
