I really wish I had a poundland near me but I don't!
I was only saying to the other half that I wanted a cocktail shaker as well! Typical!!
As for my christmas crafts well the sock monkey now has one ear sewn on but to be honest I think it would be cruel to give it to someone. I don't know how it happened but the mouth is wonky! :rotfl: I'm going to finish it and see how it looks though.
Was thinking of going into town at the weekend with my boyfriend and pick up some bits from the craft shops before we move. I've decided to make up some boxes of cards for my mum and nan and his mum and gran. But I'm running out of supplies and need to pick up more!!
Hi siren137, handmade isn't supposed to look perfect, as a kid I always opted for the soft toys that looked different (e.g. wonky ears, sewing a bit wrong...) as I thought they looked nicerMake sure you post a pic of your finished sock monkey, we'd love to see him!

cookie - lovely gifts..........I'm sure they'll be well received.
rainmac - you are clever............love the cushion, just wish I had the patience to have a go.
lillbet - think your art teacher was wrong.............love the picture. Puts my little efforts to shame.
mary, trust me, if I can do it, anyone can! Tried to get the OH to have a go at x-stitching but he looked at me as if I was mad:wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
cookiedough38 - love your gift idea, I think its so much nicer to get a home made present.
Anyway I am happy again. I finished decorating one of my card boxes, I will post some pictures tomorrow. I haven't made all the cards to go in it, I just wanted to get the box sorted first. I hope Home Bargains have some more left in stock. Even though I ripped half of it off in a huff I am really pleased with it. I want to do an oriental one (this one is a fairy and flower design), but I'm not sure if I have the 12x12 papers to do it.
Hi Melissa75 - I dont know if you have access to a printer or not but this website has saved me a fortune in papers. http://cp.c-ij.com/english/scrapbook/pattern/01.html it has alsorts of papers ready to print off. If you look at the chiyogami paper to the left of the screen underneath photo frames there are lots of lovely chinese papers, all for free. There are some lovely papers if you look through, also this webiste it ace for printing papers, quotes and embelishments off. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/acCategory?lc=en&cc=us&extcat=scrapbooking&dlc=en Have a right good look through the different pages in the activity centre, I have printed off lots of lovely things, there are kids books, invitations, lots and lots of things to make and do. There are even patterns to print off onto fabric and make dolls.
Hope this helps to keep the cost down, because I know how much scrapbooking costs. Ive nearly finished my scrapbook and I will take pictures soon, keep buying more though, yesterday I had to buy some embossing powders, inks and the heat gun (I had too there was 25% off) :rotfl: and Ive wanted to have a go at embossing for ages.0 -

Rainmac - love the little pillow. I think the frayed edges look great! More great door hangers, the papers and embellishments look great. I like the idea of "mum wants 5mins peace", more like an hour or two for me.
Lillibet - definately give the picture to your Dad, I'm sure he will be really touched by the thought you have put into it. Don't criticise yourself, it is MUCH better than anything that I could paint.
Minimacka - thanks so much for the link. I don't have a printer but I will add it to favourites for when I eventually get one!
Siren137 - love the sock monkey - so cute, your niece will love it.
As promised here are my pictures of my decorated card box. I am so glad that I didn't give in to temptation and stamp all over it. This is the view of the top:
and here is the view of the front:
In the end is was quite easy to do. I just used 2 pieces of 12x12 paper, used my £1 flower punch that I got from Home Bargains, bunged some silver glitter glue blobs in the middle of the flowers. I stuck the decoupage picture on the top as I thought the colours matched the paper. Really gutted though, popped into Home Bargains today and they had sold out of the boxes. I picked up a box with card making bits and bobs inside for £1.99 that I am going to try and decorate instead, (I think someone mentioned these before).0 -
