paddington - now I found them I've managed to finish my 'sock snowman'...........I stuck black buttons down the front and cos the sock has a sort of frilly check top I found a stick on holy leaf to pop on there..........had to leave it as ribbon round the neck...........no fabric samples big enough but it looks ok........I've tied it like a scarf..........least it looks like a snowman...........kind of...............now, what to I do about the mouth ? Do I put that on with a felt tip pen ? Have to be careful it doesn't go through to the white flannel thats inside the head and not sure what the chance of that is. Maybe better consult instructions - again............lolMary

Hello everyone,
As you can see I'm a newbie but I've been a "lurker" for nearly a year!:o
It's taken me 4 days to read this entire thread and must confess I have enjoyed the "chit chat"
!
Although usually a bit shy (hence the late join), I thought it only fair that I should come out of hiding and thank you all for your wonderful help and ideas.
Well done to all those that have made a start/finished their crafting projects
I haven't even started mine .
I've been a little reluctant to make anything for my family as they are a teeny bit materialistic and didn't know if my homemade offerings would go down that well, but I think I worry too much.
Anyway to the point, I am hoping to make
Bath bombs,
Flavoured Vodka (toffee/skittles/liquorice/chocolate-not sure which yet)
Towel cakes, including reindeer
Snowman soup
retro sweets in a jar
Ball of life
Jars of quotes
no sew blanket
Jar of cookie mix
Themed gift baskets
I was also thinking of making a gag present like a "box of sleep" for my sis and B-I-L as they've just become proud new parents to my Nephew who seems to feed 24/7, bless! (maybe I'll make up some babysitting vouchers too).
I love sock monkeys all of yours look amazing, I'm hopeless in the sewing department.
Gosh I do waffle on!
Anyway, thanks again, keep up the good work and I will try and contribute where I can.
Best wishes

Well done Mary!
I raided the airing cupboard and found a white flannel he borrowed earlier. Shame I had to pull everything out to get it but managed to resist the (very weak) urge to tidy it out!.
Now have a really cute bunny after spending 10 mins trying to take the back off what I thought were self adhesive eyes
I gave up and got the diamond glaze out which stuck them in seconds. Wonder if they'll still be there in the morning............................ :rotfl:.
Thanks to whoever posted the link earlier will make some for the school Easter Fayre if I remember by thenOfficially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended

paddington I stuck my eyes and nose on with glue dots and so far so good. Mind you the sock isn't a towelling sock.
I've got some white flannels left..............I wonder........maybe I might have a go at a bunny..........no reason why there can't be a christmas bunny is there........:rotfl:
Oh and whats diamond glaze ? Not heard of that before.
magic - welcome to the mad house - and believe me it is. Sound like a nice lot of stuff you've got planned to do and I'm sure your family will love the fact you've taken the time to do it all. Good luck:jMary

Diamond glaze is a sort of glue that you can also mix with water and use to glaze rubber stamped images.
I do quite a bit of card making and it sticks jewels and flowers to card and even eyes to bunnies :rotfl:.
You could put a tartan ribbon round his neck to make your bunny xmasy.
Keeping to the bunny theme I'm now going to start knitting DD a bunny blanket buddy (she's 8) but I'm hoping it will stop her sucking her thumb so I don't get another lecture from the dentist and more importantly so I don't have to make a 300 mile round trip so she can visit the one her dad bought her in the summer holidays - exs :mad:Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended

if you can find them.. what about one of those icecube trays that makes shapes out of the icecubes? some party poppers maybe... you could also keep a look out for a cocktail glass (pound shops sometimes do them), or a glass "stirrer".. perhaps some cocktail sticks and some of the non-alcoholic ingredients for her favorite cocktails, like olives, cherries.. you get the idea. maybe some of the non-alcoholic mixers. Depends how far you want to go really.
