Just had a thought bravobeastie!! Could you use cross stitching thread? You could get it in a neutral colour so it blends in and a couple of strands of it together (like you use to cross stitch) are pretty tough to snap!!

i hadn't thought of that. Would it be more expensive than the thread though?

I'm going to make lemon curd

It was my favouritest thing as a child, but I stopped eating eggs when I was 12 due to the ethical farming issues, and have clearly not been able to make it without!

This year, I've rescued some ex-battery hens and they've laid plenty of ethical eggs for me... so I'll be decorating some pretty jars, filling them with lemon curd, and making a little postcard from my hens explaining how it got there.

It's not just me going off on a tangent - my whole family are vegetarian hippies!

Hmmm depends where you get it. I think Hobbycraft sell it for 64p but can't remember how much thread that is (I would say it would be enough for a wreath)

I made up some nice little pot pourri bags yesterday using organza gift bags. I mixed abit of red colours pot pourri with some dried orange peel, cloves, star anise and soe cinnamon sticks and then added some drops of cinnamon oil and some sun kissed apricot (didn't have orange!!!). Mixed it all around and let it dry alittle then filled my bags. They smell lovely and I have pit them in a sealed zip lock bag to keep the smell in longer!!

I'm hoping to do a craft fair so will take them along to that. I need to get more orange peel dried now!!!

Also made my first reindeer, needs abit of tweaking but on the whole quite happy with him. I couldn't find brown pipe cleaners so his antlers are red and a nice bright orange pom pom!! No more flannels at Wilko this week. Will try Primark!

    Today stuffing a sock monkey!!
  • Greenscorpion, not to sound rude but I don't think that this thread was started to be just a list of ideas and links, I got the impression that it was a friendly thread for sharing ideas and advice. I like this thread because of it's personal chatty nature. There are other threads that are just ideas such as the A-Z sticky.

Angie- I love the Pot pourri bags! lookgreat, I hope lots of people buy them, i would!
I REALLY want to make some flannel reindeers but just can't think who would appreiciate them! May end up just making them to go in my own bathroom! I love the red antlers too! who needs them to be anatomically correct?! (oo bad spelling, I'm sorry!)

6bags for the wreaths! whew thats alot, oh well, I'm sure it will be worth it! I'm going to make a start on mine this weekend, then hide it! at lest we won't be tempted to eat them early if they are a hassle to attach! lol!

Maybe Greenscorpian, has never been on an internet forum before. Maybe they don't understand that people can build close relationships with people who have a similar interest. Maybe Greenscorpian should start a thread without banter (as someone else has suggested) Some people don't like chat (I'm not one of them btw)

    Just saying, like.

angie - well done - the little pot pourri bags look lovely and nothing wrong with your reindeer.:T ...........hope mine come out as well:rotfl:

Not done much today - covered the front of ''little black book'' for teenage grandson.....was a bit tatty where I tore the price off so covered it with more black card and a black ribbon at the edge (it ties up with black ribbon)
Did cover for baby grandsons ''christmas star'' story - dark blue with piccy of star on that matched the tag on his 'name a star' certificate

then went to the doctors............got rotten cough that kept me awake last night and now got antibiotics to clear it up.(I hope)
    Mary

I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

I hope the cough clears up soon Mary! you need plently of sleep to be alert enough to make all these lovely things!
