Only thing that confuses me with it is the half knot full knot thing. So when tying the string to the sweetie do you only do the first step when tying your shoes and then when tying it to the wire do the whole thing you would when tying your shoes?hope that made sense!
lol, thats exactly how i was going to explain it
Yes, its the bit you do to your shoe laces before tying the 'bow'
Tie the whole thing to the frame with a knot, use a strong cotton though cause its annoying when the thread keeps breaking if you're heavy handed like me :rotfl:0 -
Well I'd like to say thanks to everyone for their ideas. I've gone through this whole thread during this week and you've given me so much inspiration and enthusiasm for creating lots of presents (although I realise I've left it very late compared to you lot!)
My first attempt will get an outing tonight, not Christmas but a flat warming hamper made almost entirely of things scavenged from round the house, consisting of wine, glasses, chocolates (repackaged prettily) and scented candles in a gift basket. If that is received well I may have the confidence to try more hamper ideas for Christmas presents and these will involve much more homemade stuff.
Thanks again all!
Good luck with your first hamper ASC, soon you will be hooked like the rest of usPlease post a pic if you're able as we love to see what other's have done... so we can steal the good ideas

BUT Do you all need to post a reply - why not just thank author? Why not a seperate forum for scrapbooking? Too much personal stuff - its not a chat line is it? Thanks anyway.:D
Yes we do need to reply as we are all friends and like talking about ideas :A:wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -

Hehe great minds think alike!!
I was going to use (steal) some of my OH's cotton. He has a massive spool of it from his days in the Army, sewing on badges and the like. Was thinking that would be pretty strong! Saving hard for a brighter future!:beer:0 -

definitely. I use normal cotton, which obviously will work but i've been trying to find that sort of stuff instead. Did a search for haberdasheries near us and there are only 3 listed :eek:0 -
Got my Ikea gingerbread houses and hearts today :T
Going to get some writing icing and use the hearts to decorate our tree and I think I'm going to try a couple as tags for pressies. The hearts are only 55p for 8. I bought 4 packs:wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -

I was in Ikea last week, they also sell ready made gingerbread dough so you can make you're own shapes. I paid £1.65, thought it would be nice for the kids to do one of the weekends0 -

I think wool would be too visible, but perhaps the thinner wool may work?
For the Halloween wreath, i used 3 bags of blackcurrant liquorice sweets and 3 bags of werthers.
For the xmas one...i lost count. 5 maybe 6 large bags? but thats because the bags are mixed colours of green, gold, red and silver and the quantities in each bag aren't equal and i was doing them in colour order
(i was also eating them and handing them to the kids to keep them quiet, toffee works a treat lol)0 -
Just had a thought bravobeastie!! Could you use cross stitching thread? You could get it in a neutral colour so it blends in and a couple of strands of it together (like you use to cross stitch) are pretty tough to snap!! Saving hard for a brighter future!:beer:0
