Hello everyone. I've been away for a bit staying with my mum as my grandad just died. I have missed hearing all of your great ideas.
Rainmac - the door hangers are fabulous. I picked up a blank one yesterday from Hobbycraft before I saw your finished ones. (I only got back today). I'm glad I bought one now that I've seen the great effects you can achieve with them. I think mine cost 75p or 79p and it was amongst the wood items by the dolls house stuff.

Sorry to hear about your grandad melissa
I'm going to have to find a hobbycraft and get a couple of these door hangers..........they'd be perfect for the grandchildren.

    Hi everyone,

Sorry to hear about your grandad melissa xhugsx

I know it's not exactly crafty but i went to the Pier today and they have a great sale on. Lots of candle sets for £1 - £2 and lovely wine glasses for about 90p. I thought these would be good to use in hampers. I brought 2 large vases that should have been £15 each but were reduced to £3.60! I thought I could fill them with dried flowers/candle or something. I'm not sure if I'm keeping them for myself yet though!!!!!

I've brought some jewellery making stuff so I'm off to have a go at making a necklace. If it turns out ok I think I'll make some for friends for xmas and maybe find a nice jewellery box to go with it (actually the pier had a nice one for £4 - think I'll be returning to the shop tomorrow!)

Oh melissa, so sorry to hear about your grandad  Hope you and the rest of your family are ok. Thought you'd been quiet on here.

70-ish pence for wooden hangers is fab! Didn't think to look for mine in Hobbycraft as I always think they will be at the top end of price for anything really.

I haven't been up to much in the way of crafting this week, don't seem to have had the time. Have won 3 small DMC x-stitch kits on ebay today for £2.75 inc. p&p so looking forward to getting those and ordered an eyelet setter. Was very cheap so not sure if it's going to be up to much :rotfl: I'll let you all know! :D

Rainmac - I thought the door hanger was cheap! I was a bit disappointed with Hobbycraft, I thought I would get loads of bargains. They seemed quite expensive, (but I think that's because I'm used to looking at the cheaper prices online). It was nice to see some of the products that I have seen online "in the flesh" so to speak.
I ordered a few packs of chipboard alphabets 1 inch high from ebay, and they came when I was away. I was thinking of decorating them with paper and using them on my card box and notebooks. Still no finished products to show everyone. I keep thinking that I need more matching bits to go with everything - oh dear!
I might attempt the door hanger first for one of my neices, I'm not sure if I have any girlie papers!
I've just thought of something that I did pick up from Hobbycraft - some ribbon. It was 3 for the price of 2, 99p each but it was spools of 3 metres, so I got 9 metres for £2, which I thought was reasonable - some nice designs too. Something else that I just thought of, a little hanging paper mache frame for 59p, I'm not sure how easy it will be to decorate, but I thought for that price it was worth a try. I'll post a picture of it tomorrow.

Rainmac - thanks for that link, I had a go at at a necklace and a bracelet. My beads aren't that fancy so I wasn't expecting much from the finished article! I really just wanted to get to grips with the basic's. [strike]So here's my efforts anyway![/strike]

Ok - I'm a bit dense, how on earth do I post pictures?

    TIA

Hi all! Well I am very inspired to do some crafty presents this year! 2 years ago I did hampers which went down very well, but last year I bought almost all my christmas pressies from play.com and johnlewis.com because my parents were very ill, so I had literally no time, which was a huge shame. But they're on the mend now and I am very keen to get crafting!

Some tips - I have noticed gorgeous stick-on 3D foam shapes (animals, fairies etc) in Poundland so worth a look if you're making diaries, boxes etc. They also sell sets of 'nail jewels' which are basically jewels with flat backs - ideal for jazzing up pretty much anything!

An idea for teens etc could be hand knitted ipod socks - my nephew would love one!
