I've been making blackberry and apple jam and jelly as we had so many blackberries in the nature reserve behind our house. I'm going to make up homemade food hampers for my parents and OH's two set of parents, and I'll also give jars of jam as token presents for aunts, great aunts and people who donated me jars!
Anyway, I'm popping the jars away in a box until Christmas but have been decorating them and last night I finished them.
Here is one jar on it's own:
And all ten together:
Sorry about top image quality, I'm still getting used to the camera on my phone!0 -
Melissa, the flowers look really, really great! Are they buttons in the middle of each flower? Were they easy to cover and cut round? How did you do it? Just thinking maybe this is a good idea for my mum for her birthday next year, never know what to get her but she loves flowers.
NemoToad, I could just eat some of that jam, seeing those pretty jars is making my mouth water and my tummy rumble! A brilliant idea for a gift, well done! If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
Hi All!
Don't worry ladies I was a good girl and saw my new doctor last night (I only saw him last week for a first time check up lol) Everything is OK he said I've very badly ripped my neck on the right side but the swelling is normal and will go down slowly over the next few days as I rest it. Apparently it was because my neck snapped up and so the pain and tenderness is like whiplash!! I've been told to make sure I twist my neck every so often else it will heal stiff and cause me more pain in the future! Today I feel much better after not doing anything yesterday (so unlike me I have to be doing something) so will carefully do a little today.
Was really gutted that I did it on Sunday though as we were going to go out and pick up some flannels and soap so I could make up some reindeer and yule logs (think I'm making 50 of each!!) oh well!!
Thank you all so much for your kind words and worrying over clumsy old me!! Saving hard for a brighter future!:beer:0 -
Good to hear it's nothing serious Siren, do make sure you get enough rest. If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0

siren - glad to hear you're feeling better and have been to the doc for a checkover............I always tell folk to do that and yet hardly ever do it myself.............lol
melissa- the flowers look lovely..........I'd love to have a go but daren't take on anything else............lol Bad enough that someone being very efficient at washing up has chucked out the lids of two of my jars !!! Better finish off what I've started - and quick before someone sees it as rubbish and chucks it................lol
nemo toad - the jam looks lovely...........love the jars........(starting to get a 'thing' about bloomin jars................lol
rainmac - as I put gold ribbon round the yule logs I really wanted to stick to the 'gold' theme (ooops.........makes em sound posh !)...........they'll be stuff in the shops soon. - Dread to think what they'd look like if I made them anyway................lolMary
I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

Awww thanks folks!
Have to say I did give myself a shock. I've collapsed several time before but never hurt my neck like this so I'm glad I saw the doc and that everything is OK.
Will have to get my no sew blanket finished today as I'm off visiting my folks at the weekend as my little bro is off to uni!! So we are going up to see him off. Won't get anything done as my 11 year old sister will be too busy telling me everything about starting high school lol. Although I am hoping that I will get into my old home town where I know where everything is to pick up some more bargains hehe Where am I going to find 150 flannels!! Saving hard for a brighter future!:beer:0 -
Rainmac - the flowers were really easy to cover. I just put them right side down on the piece of paper, drew round them and then cut them out and stuck them on with pva glue. It is a button stuck in the middle with a glue dot, I just used embroidery thread to use through the holes. As I said it would be cheap enough to make these yourself, just use strong cardboard for the flowers, cheap plantpot and I think pinkladymel said that she bought some oasis from Home Bargains. I think they would look nice for any occasion, you could do an xmas one with red flowers, or pink/blue one for a new baby. It didn't take long to do at all. I just wish the picture was a bit better so that you could actually see it.
Nemotoad - love the decorated jam jars - they look so cute!
Siren - glad to hear you are feeling better.
