    Ok Peeps...thinking caps on please!
I've got a fleece from IKEA & want to make a... ---"waistcoat" I think is the best way to describe it---for me muvva. The plan is to have a longer front hem than the back so when she is sitting, the two fronts will cover her knees & there's not so much bulk in the small of the back.

Now! All raw edges will be finished, maybe with ribbon or blanket-stitched [thanks MrsMc;) ]
I was thinking of cutting up the centre from hem to X, to make the opening...no probs.

Obviously not drawn to scale, but do you think this would work as a pattern?

IF it turns out ok, I may even do a bit of embroidery or sew on a bit of sparkly...& I'm hoping to get a bed-jacket sized one out of the extra...shouldn't be too hard cuz me muvva's a right little shortie :rotfl:

Just had a  ...if I use press-studs, or perhaps different coloured ribbons so she'll know what ones to tie together, I need not actually sew the bits together, & then she can open out the jacket as an extra blanket for her bed  Have to ponder that a bit more m'finx

    *glares at all of you*

I spent today cutting up paper: 365 facts (for my Dad), 365 ways to say good morning in different languages (for my brother) and 365 quotations (for my Mum).

My thumb is now all swollen and red from the pressure of the scissors. I blame you!

BMF - that sounds like a lovely idea..........not sure how to do it though. Think if it were me I'd make it like a big poncho type thing if you know what I mean. Probably the same sort of thing you had in mind going by your diagram.

Sugarspun - sorry about your thumb............but at least yours are all cut up now..........I've not even started......................:rotfl: The pain is yet to come..............

Sorry!!! I got a blister on my thumb from all the cutting. My OH asked what I'd been doing and I said cutting up lots of paper, he asked what for and I quickly changed the subject as one of the jars is for him ;) :rotfl:

I know you have a sore thumb but 3 pressies now done :D

Thanks for that, thought you were my friend :rotfl:

I do feel :o as I didn't think through just how much cutting was involved before blabbing my mouth off on this board offering my facts to others. Maybe I should have followed up with a 'warning' email about poorly thumbs... ;)

The jars do make fab pressies though so worth the effort and pain :D

Just want to say for legal reasons I accept no responsibility for sore thumbs :rotfl:

I am your friend ... til the poo hits the fan then I am off :rotfl::rotfl:

Nah only joking ... I am quite looking forward to doing mine, although I plan to start with the 52 facts in a jar, then if I decide a bigger one would be better I will wander into ikea and get the bigger jar and go full throttle :D
