I've bought 4 fleeces from Ikea to make 2 no sew blankets for my two boys. They have trim round the edge but I am going to cut that off... http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/70100713
We have the light blue ones of these for our floorthey are definately good quality blankets, or at least have been for us. One on the floor every day for the last 9 months lol
Good luck with the no sew blanketsRaising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -

Hi all!
Thanks for helping me to locate the bits I need. I will have to check out some of the places/sites you have all recommended.
Rainmac - unfortunately I just checked the ikea site and there isn't a store anywhere near me. Its says they will be opening one in Southampton in 2009 which will be too late for Xmas.
Going into Portsmouth today as its the other half's birthday on the 6th and so I need to get him some pressies hehe. Hopefully I may spot somewhere I didn't see before. Saving hard for a brighter future!:beer:0 -
pinkladymel, the shadow box is absolutely gorgeous :T
sian, simplicity have 2 patterns at the moment, I thought they may be good for the type of hamper you're saying about or for a pamper hamper. Of course if you don't sew not so great but wondered if you could source these items ready made. I think they'd look lovely altogether in a hamper or the bag in the pattern.

You'll have to remember to buy fleeces in Ikea for blankets next Xmas:wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -

No, but I'd like to be able to. My dad will be 65 next year and I was contemplating doing a cross stitch picture from a photo of him when he was a boy. I've heard it's serious work as it takes loads of shades of thread to get tones right. If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
I am just currently putting together a cross stitch hamper for my moms birthday. She has always wanted to cross stitch a photograph. I hope you find these links useful:
I am going to convert a photograph and print it using this FREE trial:
http://www.hobbyware.com/pm_downloads_trial.htm
(It is so easy I can't even tell you!)
This software tells you the exact colours of threads you need to buy. I want to do it right for my mom so I went for DMC threads from this seller:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DMC-VARIATION-X-STITCH-THREADS-60-75-100-SETS-IN-SHOP_W0QQitemZ320288830034QQihZ011QQcategoryZ41235QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262
And I have got her a gorgeous pink cross stitch storage box from home bargains for £2.99
Still got to get aida etc and I know this is no money saving hamper but it's something she has ALWAYS wanted to do and my mom is worth it

I made this sign for my friends craft room door and wrapped it in tissue in a nice little gift box to make it seem special:
This was just a little piece of wood I stole from my husbands model making stuffPainted with a 10p tester pot (reduced in focus) and adorned with a hand cut butterfly from vellum, chipboard swirl, a 99p embellishment from hobbycraft floristry section and some wooden roses. I inked the edges to make it more *natural* looking.
The card was made with scraps of white card eyeletted together, watercoloured and then stamped with Staz-On so that it didn't bleed.
I hope this gives you some inspiration x

Wow - pinkladymel - I have only just started altering items, but your items are gorgeous, so much better than my attempts. I love the shadow box, I didn't notice them in Home Bargains this week, but I'll have a look next week. The sign is beautiful too and the card, do you give lessons?????0

Thanks ever so much Melissa I am blushing now
You have made my day!
I don't give lessons I am far too shy but I am always willing to give help to anyone who needs it so please feel free to ask me anything. I'm not an expert by any means but I do like to help
