I'm 8 and half months pregnant & haven't put a jumper on yet, never mind the heating!
Hubby has been curling up under a duvet with a jumper on though to watch TV, so I suppose it must be a bit chilly :>))Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0 -

I haven't put the heating on yet, even with a baby in a drafty Victorian wind tunnel of a house it isn't cold. We are lucky that we near the river so never get frosts until December, but hubby is still going to work wearing shorts! And we still have the summer duvet on the bed and the back door & windows open most days:D Good thing really as the timer on the central heating is up the spout & my plumber is being about as reliable as...well....er....a plumber:rolleyes:Post Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p
In England we have Mothering Sunday & Father Christmas, Mothers day & Santa Clause are American merchandising tricks:mad: Demonstrate pride in your heirtage by getting it right please people!0 -
After reading this thread i thaught i would check out the prices of electric blankets in argos and came across electric duvets too but have you seen the price of them
for those who are after fleece pjamas they have some in primark £6 or £7 cant remeber which.
I have only had the heating on this passsed two weeks for an hour a night max so its warm for when ive defrosted myself in the bath. But i have been walming my clothes up with the hairdryer for several weeks now.If i get to miserly with my gas would i end up with a damp house and mouldy carpets as the condensation is hurrendous in really cold weather.
great thread by the way and very interesting0 -

Thanks for the link S_MI think I spoke too soon ... it was pretty cold not long after I posted that post.
I still haven't had to put the heating on (yet), maybe because I need to lose a couple of stone, but I'd hate it if I thought visitors were cold.
Off to read the rest of this thread .... looks like there's some good tips0 -
I had good advice about my hot water tank from the other section of this forum - pile as much stuff on top as possible! So now my blankets and sleeping bags etc all live on top of the tank and it has made a difference, even though it also has a thick jacket. Basically it can never have too much insulation.0

We haven't had the heating on yet either, and I'm sitting here now in a T Shirt, jeans with bare feet....we do have carpet in most rooms though.
I've been married 22 years, and we've never owned an electric blanket, I love the feeling of getting into a freezing bed, and warming up, until you're cozy.
On the suject of a bad winter, my dad, who is retired farmer says that because there are more and bigger blackberries than usual, more wild mushrooms this year than for the last 20 years, and that honeysuckle has blossomed better and for longer, its all a sign of a severe winter to come.
I just want so much snow, that I can't drive to work, and the school is closed so we can have snow ball fights!! Not much hope of that here as we are surrounded by the sea, and the air is too salty for the snow to stick for any length of time.:j0 -

He he, I have wondered that myself at times
Well just to annoy all you "coldies" out there ... last night I slept with just a thin cotton sheet over me and I was still sweating, and today I'm sat here in just a t-shirt with the fan blowing on me
Ok, so I'm full of flu and have a raging temperature and sweating like a pig at the moment :rotfl:"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"
