Hi dang
We have an older thread on keeping warm so I'll join your post to it.

Mulled wine (with a slug of brandy) and hot mince pies is working for me"The happiest of people don't necessarily have the

As I have been suffering with a bad back the last few days so I have been using a hotwater bottle.
Seems to keep me warmer than usual.

my boiler broke down recently and I microwaved rice in a pillowcase for about 4 mins to warm up my bed, stayed hot for about an hour.Same principle as a buckwheat bag or cherry stones but a lot cheaper.0

I have just made my own hot bottle for DD - kilo pack of value rice (52p) - popped inside a towel that has been sewn up to make a rectangle for it as a cover.
I pierced the plastic bag the rice was in several times before putting it in the cover.
Heat for 5 mins in microwave and you can add a few drops of essential oil to make it smell nice.
DD liked this so much she has taken it back to uni with her.
Youngest DD now wants one so will sew one for her tonight."This site is addictive!"

Our house, 3 bed semi. is all electric so we dread the power cuts. We also have storage heaters which never seem to kick out much heat other than the one in the bedroom which is too hot. No heating in the kitchen or bathroom. Mind you the office at work still have the air con on. :eek:0
