All went smoothly until the password stage. First password was blank - rang up - apologies - new password within 5 days but that was blank as well! There is obviously something wrong wuth the machine that prints them!No reliance should be placed on the above.0

Mine was very faint, but just readable. Unfortunately I was able to log in and change the password (number!) for the first time, but I tried to log in for a second time a few days later (using the new password I chose) and it kept saying it was wrong, then locked me out. The help line unlocked it but it still didn't work, so they arranged to have a new password posted. Then I got an email saying it was sent on the 19th and should be arrive soon, but that was the first one! I replied explaining the situation....

I applied for an ICICI Hisave account last night, and I already have my confirmation email requesting a cheque for £1 from my linked account. :T So far so good. A very fast response, that cahoot and others could learn from.
The only query I have is, they have requested that the cheque is made out "in the favour of Mr. XXXXXX XXXXX ########"
"X" being letters in my name and "#" being numerical digits.
Is this the exact format that I need to make the cheque out to? or do I just make it out to myself as usual and put the 8 digit reference on the back?
Normally when opening an instant saver, I just make it out to myself and put a reference on the back of the cheque.
I'm probably being a bit dim here, but i've read the email a few times, and wouldn't mind a bit of clarity.
Don't let this put anyone off opening an account with them, as I said they are very quick to respond. I wouldn't expect any bank to facilitate the opening of an account over the weekend. My farts hospitalize small children0 -

Yes they ask you to make a cheque out to yourself... if i remember correctly that will be deposited to your account. Kind of an activstion thing and to ensure that the account that the £1 is coming from is yours...MFWB

I have had real trouble getting my account set up. The initial getting £1 in the account bit went fine but I still can't put any more money into it cos they keep managing not to send me the password I need to access the account online. I have phoned again and again and they say they're sending it in the post (for security reasons) but I never get it. It has been a couple of months now and the money is just sitting in my current account. Might be time to give up and try a different account, even if it does pay less interest....

From within ICICI HiSAVE you would be 'pulling' it in from the linked current account.
Now that the account is actually opened, why don't you enter the online current account and then 'push' it into the HiSAVE?
You'll still be unable to access it until you sort out the password issue but at least you'll be getting the interest.
PS. Not being able to access the account, I'm not sure whether I would be up for taking my own advice on this, though.0 -

I have a FlexAccount but no cheque book, is there a way round it, would they accept a NW cheque rather than a peronal cheque. I do have an A&L account, but I'm winding that account down cos of them keep reducing the interest rates on my various account with them.0
