thanks for that Virgin let me down paid one day late and they charged interest. Note to all. Barclays will do the same. Minimum payments must be on time or you lose the interest free rate.
Took onlt ten mins to apply for Barclaycard at branch, great.0 -

However, are you getting confused with the credit agreement at the end of the application process? Because I highlighted this anomaly earlier this week, when I said that the credit agreement produced was identical to the 2% fee condition normally associated with the "Barclaycard" application route.
If I'm correct in my assumption, I'd advise standing your corner rather than cancelling and wasting the credit search.
I was confused as the link you gave is not the same as Martin's. When I followed Martin's link the T&C's detail the 2% charge.
Anyway, I will wait and see what happens.0 -
I think Barclaycard have clicked on this deal. I tryed to apply online today and the site says they're performing maintenance. :  :mad:0

Just applied for one, it specifically mentioned there would be NO handling fee for BT's... Nice one Martin! No reliance should be placed on the above.0

Golden rule of Stoozing (well one of mine anyway...) DIRECT DEBITs for minimum balance ! set it up at the same time you do the balance transfers
much of the CC companies profits must come from people paying a few days late, they must hate the DD facilityam I missing something ??0 -
AND.... phone them up within a week of receiving your card to ENSURE the DD is set up. There's been comments that the setting up of DDs sometimes doesn't get done quick enough to meet the first payment - bang go the offer and on come the fees!0

Why not set up your own Standing Orders for the minimum payments on line, then you are in charge yourself and not dependent on others dragging their heels.0

If you set up a direct debit with a card provider, it is their responsibility to take the money from your account when they say they are going to. If the DD fails (and obviously providing you have the funds available in your current account) then you have some comeback for the removal of fees and reinstatement of 0% offer etc.
Obviously you need to check your statement when it arrives to ensure the words "your minimum payment of £xx.xx will be collected from your nominated bank by direct debit on or after xx/xx/xx." appear on it.
If you decide to pay by standing order, you and your bank are taking the responsibility for ensuring the payments are made - and made on time. The CC company will not be as forthcoming in removing fines and reinstating 0% rates if you pay this way. If it's your bank's fault they will just say "sorry". You will have no comeback on the bank, and they will certainly not reimburse you for any penalties incurred with your CC provider.
Perhaps most importantly - if you are late with a payment, this will be recorded on your credit file. If you're late with a payment because it was the CC providers DD payment that failed then you have a chance of getting them to correct your credit file to remove the late payment notice.
Standing orders are useful for depositing money into regular savings accounts, but for credit cards - DD is the only way to go in my opinion.0 -
Just applied online, it does mention that BT under £5000 won't have a charge, but those over 5k will.
Great - now waiting:)0
