Reaper wrote:EDIT: Bet if you tried to pay off the 6.9% part they'd take it off the 0% too!
"We will apply payments we receive to your account in the following order:
* any balance (including interest) which a promotional interest rate applies to for an open ended period;
* any balance (including interest) which a promotional interest rate applies to for a fixed period;
* any other interest charges and other charges made under this agreement;
* the Standard Balance;
* the Cash Balance."
Open ended period is the 6.9%, and fixed period is the 0%.0 -
Lost that bet I'm happy to say. Thanks for the info.0

Reaper wrote:wendydrury - 3.9% is an excellent rate, I would hesitate to move money off it. Any money you have available to pay it off would do better in, say, a Halifax cash ISA paying you 5% interest.
However if you are keen to clear your debt asap then it is an option. Just check what the % minimum repayment is on Barclaycard compared to your current cards to see if your monthly repayments wil be higher or lower.
Thanks for the advice. Yes, I want to pay off asap as I'm better at putting money into savings when I know I can clear the whole of the debts if I have to! ( Still a bit nervous about keeping debt and saving at the same time!)
Will check minimum payment percentage and transfer some if accepted for card. Will keep checking this site too!librarylottie0 -

They do not allow SBTsA greedy man's bag is never full0 -
Reaper wrote:Well spotted. But is that per transfer? For example if you had a £10,000 limit could you do one BT of £5000 from one card and £4000 from another?
I couldn't see if this had been dealt with, sorry if I'm repeating the answer.
Barclay Card will only let you take out £5k interest free. The rest would go onto the special interest rate. I had this card last year, 12 months 0%, it was a good deal and they were easy to deal with.0 -
Have applied. if accepted will be great news Thanks Martin0

Sorry, maybe I'm missing something here, but if you follow the instructions and click on the "View Summary Box" at the start of the application process, it does state that there is a 2% handling fee. Have they already closed the door or is there a way round this!0

1. Go to https://www.barclays.co.uk
2. Left hand side of screen, under personal banking - click "Barclaycard"
3. Click "view summary box"
