What exciting things can I do with couscous?

When I make couscous salad I soak it (with some raisons) in veg stock, then add lemon juice and make a dressing - out of nat yogurt, pesto, crushed garlic and s & p - that seems to give it the kick it needs! I also think couscous provides a good background for stronger flavours, i.e. eaten with spicy chickpeas, moroccan or indian dishes. Fresh herbs are always tasty too, esp basil and mint. oh and it goes well with fruits chop up some orange or apple and throw in some nuts if you need to use them up. Making me hungry just thinking about it!0

Hi, My favourite recipe with cous cous is to soak it in a bowl with vegetable stock. Once the vegetable stock has been absorbed, add it to a pan of cooked sliced leeks grated carrot, bacon lardons and chopped coriander finish off with grated cheese. Blanch some savoy cabbage leaves and dab dry and put lovely cous cous mixture into each leaf and roll. Place rolled babbage leaves onto oven dish , drizzle with olive oil and place in hot oven for however long you prefer, and the end result is yummy...0

Thanks for all the recipes - we are now on our second lot of cous cous. We had spicy chicken wings with salad and cous cous, it all went very quickly!! Mr HQ doesn't think I'm trying to poison him any more. (lulled him into a few sense of security...hee...heee!!)0

:j :j Sounds like you've converted Mr HQ
We love couscous here and if I have any fruit juice left over I use that rather than veg. stock to make up the couscous - makes a great salad base for packed lunches ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I cook the couscous as per packet instructions, and add fried onions, celery, peppers, mushrooms etc., mix it all in with some olive oil, mebbe some cherry toms.....Mmmmm, yummy yummy yummy.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -
OK, exciting is maybe pushing it a bit, but does anyone have any ideas of how it can be made vaguely interesting or tasty?
I have tried one of the Ainsley Harriot ones but I don't like too many additives and as I am trying to be more OS I want to do it myself. I fancy a lemony-flavoured one but don't know how to do it.
Other flavours or ideas are also welcomed, as are ideas for making tasty things with quinoa. I have both in my cupboard but as they are so bland I'm never tempted to get the packets out. If I had some more interesting suggestions as to what to do with them, I might manage to use them up.
Any ideas welcomed!

I make lamb chops with minted couscous. Just add as much mint sauce as you like when you're adding the stock.

My OH adds some oven roasted veggies - peppers, toms, onions, mushrooms, etc - some mint sauce, Balsamic vinegar and diced-fried bacon - it's superb!
Make too much and there's plenty for lunch at work tomorrow :-)0 -
