Couscous plain, with a stew, like lamb and chick pea - google north african cuisine.
Salads with cucumber, mint etc use tabbouleh or bulghur wheat.

I would always use stock where the cooking instructions say water as it is very bland on its own. It's delicious with a big spoon of pesto stirred in, or with chinese five spice.Total Original Debt: £30404.24

I normally buy the stuff that has things added to make it tasty, like the ainsley harriot packets or tescos own, but in the interests in money saving have recently bought a big pack of the plain stuff which is much cheaper.
I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for ways to spice it up? Thanks!0 -
I add half a stock cube and curry powder to mine.0

Use vege stock to cook, then add chopped onion, lightly fried, chopped sun dried tomatoes and a handful of roasted pinenuts YUMSave the earth, it's the only planet with chocolate!0

One of the best things I have found to add is a cup of soup...just the powder no water.
Mushroom soup ones are particularly yummy.
Nice thing is you can choose from loads of different flavours.:T0 -
I use vegetable stock, instead of plain water, to 'cook' it.Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0

I gently fry some garlic and onion in plenty of olive oil, along with any spare bits of veg I have left in the fridge - ie, bits of brocolli, courgette, peppers, until they're nice and soft, then mix it all together with the cooked cous cous. Add finely chopped fresh chilli if you like it spicy.0

I get the one which is prepacked in sachets - only as I always get it wrong when adding water. Just made some for lunch tomorrow. got some lemon juice, parsley, fennel, peppers and black olives in it. If doing it hot - just add stock and dash of tabasco or something similar...May tomorrow bring new horizon's...... ::j0
