I joined this site a couple of months ago and have genuinely found it to be ok.
I see from other posts that people have posted the names of the sites in their posts..how else will people know what your talking about...
  • Hi I found this web site and joined free of charge.

I now spend hours on the chat and webcam to my partner in iraq free of charge.

they are offering the first 5000 members full access forever and after that is something like 7 or 8 quid per month if you miss the cut off.

  • Hi Mark

I have tried online dating and it was quite fun and I did meet some nice normal people. I used www.mysinglefriend.com because you have to get a mate to write about you and so does everyone on the site, so you know they're not complete weirdos :) You can register for free and have a look around, see what you think, then if you decide there are people you want to write to I think it is £20 for 3 months (?) which is a lot cheaper than a lot of sites. Anyway good luck and have fun!

Hmmm... I don't rate them, cheap though they are. Actually I don't rate any if you're male, "ordinary", under 35 ish because women have too many men to choose from and you just write and write, favourite and favourite, get little or usually no response. In my case no response, I'm a respectably attractive but obvious not "phwhoar!!" nearly 6ft male late 30s.

With mysinglefriend, my experience in advertising in London/SE was:

    1. Quite a bit of unsolicited interest for 3 days after the free joining, mostly just favouriting me, 3 emails from what I would say are average looking women that I simply didn't fancy, call me shallow but can't help that.

    2. I then paid to join, to write to the 3 or 4 that I'd favourited and who had reciprocated favouriting me (something like 1 in 7 reciprocated at the point before I paid my sub). I simply said "Hello, I see your interests in...., if you'd like to write back it'd be great, bye for now." and nothing "dodgy".

    3. 2 of the 4 wrote back, the other 2 vanished, they don't even log in any more. 1 of the 2 wrote me 1 email after a week delay, I replied next day, she vanished after that.

    4. About 2 or 3 dozen other emails and favouriting by me followed - not one person answered or reciprocated. So no more the 1 in 7 hit rate and no one else replying, emailing me first, or favouriting me first. Suddenly, it's all quiet again.

    5. Since 2 or 3 days after paying the fee, only 1 favourited me, no one new (ie post my paying the sub) favourited me, emailed me or replied to me, can think of just 1 woman whose interest was very slight (short emails, seldom wrote or read what I said). Oh yes, actually I was also favourited by one very unsuitable woman since then. I think only 1 or none of those who favourited me ever wrote, so I've no idea what that's about.

Logged in often, put the effort in, didn't do well at all.

That's been about it. In a nutshell, flurry of favouriting of me before I paid my sub, a couple of average emails inbound too, but since paying sub it's been quiet as a mouse on a sandy beach.

However, if you're a "proper" youngish say below 35 good looking female or typically good looking male, you'll probably do fine, although you could do that on one of the free sites instead like plentyoffish, midsummerseve or the limited messaging but free loveandfriends just to name a few. Or just go to a party like in ye olden days!

MSF is almost cheap, the advertisers seem largely ABC1 (not that I actually wanted ABC1s anyway) but I don't rate the success chance and if I advertise again it'll be on a free one - at least there you get no response but also no debit from your account. :rotfl:

  • The best value internet dating site I’ve come across in plentyoffish.com, because it’s free. You do get a lot of weird ads and invitations to take part in surveys which have links to chargeable sites but if you avoid these you’ll be OK.

The site is Canadian so if you just enter search you’re likely to get lots of North American people listed. It’s search engine is quite detailed and being free it has a large client base

  • Hi found a code for the new www.bigbrotherdating.co.uk site if you enter BBD1DEC you can get 1 month membership for £1 thought I would share that.
  • I found a free dating site earlier.

From some news articles it looks like they have some big backing, which is refreshing. Too many rubbish sites out there.
