In true MSE spirit I saved some money by noy having a manicure before my holidays (usually treat myself after the pain of getting my legs waxed)
I did myself a french manicure using Bourjois white nail tip varnish and their So laque pale pink that I raved about a couple of threads back.(when the Boujois till spit was out)
It was a bit tricky getting the white tips,it comes with a special brush which worked when doing my left hand but was trickier on the right,I ended up using the sticky guides out another set but it looked fantastic and lasted a whole week.:j Ok I was on holiday so not typing or doing many dishes but I was well impressed .It lasted longer than my usual professional manicure:j:j I love bargains:jI love MSE0 -
Looks around furtively where would I find stockists of OPI? LOL :rotfl:
I find it cheaper to get it from US Ebay. Though I am resisting buying any more as I used to be a beauty therapist and have loads of varnishes!
Regarding painting finger nails, ideally (;) ) you should put on a base coat, sweeping down over the tips of your nails, and just underneath. Do the same thing with the colour polish, sweeping down over the tips and wrapping in round just underneath the tips of the nail. Nail polish takes longer to dry than people realise and should have at least 10 minutes in between each coat if at all possible (Who has the time to do base coat, wait 10 minutes, 1st coat of colour, wait 10 minutes, 2nd coat of colour, wait 10 minutes etc?!) Lastly the top coat should be '*floated' on so you don't drag the colour underneath, again making sure that you include the tip of the nail and just underneath the nail again. It's all a bit of a pavlava really!
*By floated, I mean, make sure there is plenty on the brush and lightly rest the bubble of polish on the nail and glide (don't drag) down the nail.
I hope this helps0 -
If anyone wants to check the shades of the Benefit lipgloss freebie before they go into Boots to buy the Glamour mag, here they are.

Yep, the Colour Miracle polishes do chip easily, so I never bargain on wearing them for more than a day! Am currently sporting a Stay Perfect one in Very Petal (hot pink) which I applied last night, and now has a couple of minor chips. Will be sending OH to Boots tomorrow for some base coatDFW no.554 - Proud to be dealing with my debts :TDAVID TENNANT CAN PROBE ME WITH HIS SONIC SCREWDRIVER ANYTIME...:AFLYING THE FLAG FOR THE CAMBRIDGE BOOTS TARTS :happyhear0

Wow thanks Raggamuffin for typing in so much detail. Very helpful indeed. The wrapping bit fills me with dread though ; I can imagine ending up with big globules dripping from under my nails! But yes, I can see why it would be necessary as the very ends of mine are the first to go. (maybe I type too furiously)
I waited a good 15 mins between my two coats but only cos Ive had the two coats merge into one mess before now.0 -
Despite spending some 90 mins in Boots at Bluewater yesterday, this was not enough and I managed to leave DH with DS for couple of hours and drive to Galions Reach Beckton Boots in hope they had an ACM that would show up different coupons.
Yah! It did so I now have the model.me and TS ACM coupons but still no photo frame or albums ACM voucher. I also got an ACM coupon for FREE Time Delay eye stuff or firming facial mask. The facial mask was £4.50 (reduced from 9.50) whereas eye thingies were currently £2.95 so I went for the facial mask. Noone else on here has mentioned getting product completely free through ACM without needing any further purchase... has anyone else seen this?
And I got last NC free bag alongside some NC face scrub reduced to £1.50. Both my free NC bags have been scanned through first at 0.00 with the second NC item being scanned through last after everything inbetween. I reckon they might even go through at 0.00 without even buying anything else from the range!! Anyone tried this?
Other purchases, £3 for three boxes of rusks, half price crisps with ACM voucher.
Next I went to Boots clearance shop over the road... not been in one of these before, I was well impressed. Anyone know where other Boots clearance stores are in London or Midlands area?
Anyway, in there I got:
The Med GWP pack of body butters on it's own for £1.75 - I haven't got the coupons so cannot get free
2 x No7 matt lip colours - £1 each
2 x bum bags - £2 each (am doing bootsale soon and the other one will do as present for a boring male relative)
Oh dear must go as DS is squealing for his dinner!0 -
lilflower - I think it was an offer for some hair care freebies. If you look back a couple of pages there was a link to a website, and there were 4 sets you could choose from - but they are all out of stock now I think.0

Cheers for that raggamuffin.
Just to add, I find that nail polish does not 'lift' if I make sure than not only are my nails really cleaned with a anti bacterial astringent handwash, but that I also use a very fine file on the tops of my nails, this way it seems to have something to grip onto and will not peel etc.
If I do that and also what raggamuffin suggests it lasts a week, wack it on and a day is lucky, so worth spending the time to get it right.
Not sure that the quick dry sprays are good, they seem to dull the colour, not sure if it is just me thinking it though, but I find the oils you can put a drop of on your nails, to dry, are brill. I used to run an Esporta and the Beauty thearapists introduced me to this one and it lasts forever http://www.feelunique.com/p/Jessica-Quick-Dry-60-Second-Drying-0-5oz.html?gclid=CICWjvWy5ZMCFQ3_sgodTXrmZQ not cheap, but sure there must be similar things out there! Unfortunately they also introduced me to Espa Concept Moisturising Complex at £47.50 for 55ml...thank goodness I went on maternity lol0 -
I got this last week and was BOGOF, it's only £9.?? so doesn't quite make to 20 quid for GWP, now would be ideal time to get it along with a cosmetics item using £5 email voucher. I also used 200 points mag voucher for no.7 suncare on this item.Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0
