Hi all - chores done and I've been to the shop to post some letters, buy some milk and I popped into the charity shop that has just opened up. Bought a Felicity Wishes book for DGD and an Art book for DGS, three beautiful scarves (20p each!), a top with chains on it that I bought just for the chains, which will be added to a knitted handbag I am making for a Christmas present (yes, I know it's still only June!), a long dress and another top for me - all for 50p each. I'm just about to do some office w**k but thought I'd stop and catch up on here first.
Jayward - (((hugs))) to you - I hope you're feeling better today; good luck at the doctor's.
Beth - it's what we're here for. If our words and thoughts have helped then that's fantastic. The beauty of this thread is that you feel as if you are amongst true friends yet you have the anonymity that you don't get if you see people face to face. I've confided things on here that I wouldn't tell my family or friends and found it a real help.
Good luck to your DH with his root canal! As a former dental nurse, it's the one thing that always made me a bit squeamish! I'd rather assist with a difficult extraction than a root canal! I've never had to have one, luckily.
I can't believe you managed to achieve all those curtains with one working arm! You must be Superwoman! I'm sure you'll re-let the house very soon - apparently, a lot more people are going to be renting from now on now that the housing market has taken a dive.
Well, I'd better go and get this typing done so I'll catch up with you all later.

morning everyone.
not been sick this morning
but feeling very tired and headachey
but keeping my spirits up. trying not to do too much, so have a small goal for today - to get out for a short walk and a gulp of fresh air and to clean the kitchen. Can't leave it any longer
Rzl - not that far on yet - 7 and 1/2 weeks, which was why I'm was trying my best not to tell. But it's so hard as DH and I are so excited. We plan to tell the grandparents-to-be when we next see them, about 3 weeks or so. Then we'll not 'hide' it anymore. But figured mse was ok
betheebee you are having such a horirble time of it and my thoughts are with you. Echoing what others have said remember that to be strong for others you have to look after yourself. We are always here to listen and help as much as we can. big hug to you xxxx
right - I'm off to make a peppermint tea
I can't promise that all my replies will illicit this responser.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!

Cor, I ain't been on here in ages. Fell by the wayside for a good few months.
I try my hardest to be os and save as much money as possible. I've been waiting for ages for the lodgers to move out so I can concentrate more fully on my mealplans. One down, one to go. Although he has been told that if he is not gone by the end of this month, then we will not cook or provide any food or toiletries for him any more. He is on his own. Seeing as I'm 5 months pregnant, it's a hassle I can do without!
I have (just about) been sticking to my grocery budget, but I think bf may be getting a bit bored of the same ole meals. I made 20 burgers last night to go in the freezer, enough for 5 meals. Oh well, should last a while!
R.Mac - congrats on the pregnancy. I ended up telling everyone when I was about 4/5 weeks pregnant. I thought I was further along, but turned out I wasn't. Then other people in the family announced they were in the family way and we couldn't keep our mouths shut. For morning sickness, I just forced myself to eat in the morning and had a glass of Lucozade. Ginger things just didn't cut it for me. Thankfully it didn't last long and I didn't get it majorally bad. I found it was copable (if that's a word) because I knew there was a very good reason I was feeling ill. Just starting to feel the kicks and tickles now, so that's something for you to look forward to.
Finishing work at the end of August and looking forward to becoming even more OS then.
For breakie - honey nut cornflakes (Tesco's own of course) as I keep a packet at work and use boss' milk (heehee).
Lunch - meatloaf sarnie (not sure what that's going to be like - made a load of mini meatloaves last night out of Nigella's book).
Dinner - omelettes (must buy a lettuce or garlic bread to go with after work)
Planning on a No Spend Day (manage these quite a lot these days - wahey)
Other OS things tonight. None, I don't think. Deheaded the petunias in the hanging baskets this morning.
We have plants in little pots which we simply cannot remember what it is. Something to do with fire/flame as the flowers look like flames. Bought them from Suttons, but can't find them on their website. Apparently they are a challenge, but bf is chuffed as his has little flowers already.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

Hi R.Mac - I remember when DS1 and DIL told me they were expecting their first child (my gorgeous 8 year old grandson); we were all crying and I just kept saying 'thank you, oh, thank you, thank you so much, you don't know how happy this makes me!' It made everyone laugh but I was honestly so ecstatic and excited that I nearly exploded with the feeling! DS1 said 'I take it you're pleased then?' I was just as excited when, three years later, they told me that they were pregnant again, the result being my equally gorgeous granddaughter! I'm sure your family will be delighted.
I hope the peppermint tea helps with the morning sickness. I had forgotten arrowroot until I saw Mrs Moneypenny's suggestion but I'm sure it helps a lot.

Afternoon everyone!
What a glorious sunny day again!! I was gonna go to the gym this morning, but my shopping in asda/lidl took a little longer than expected!:o Got another aubergine whilst still at 44p each incase the offer finishes tomorrow!
I registered with the readitswapit site the other day, only got round to listing one book to start with so I knew what to do - but someone has already requested to swap!! :j Just wrapped it and my neighbour is posting it now! I haven't a clue how much it will cost to post! I've now got to sort out some more books!
I'm now off to cut the grass!
(((betheebee)))
catznine - hope your work situation gets sorted out to your liking.

I had one exam this morning to look after - just finished and now I have to run back to the schools office, collect the next paper and sprint halfway across town with it to start the next one off in a bit.. And I have to find some way of scraping the egg custard off my gown before I get there. maybe they won't notice if I turn it inside out :rotfl: have a good day all, cel x:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -
Hello all !
Lovely day here, very warm and a bit on the heavy side (hence headache this morning ?)
Spent the morning counting out the small change from my whisky bottle......nothing great - £27.......but every little helps as they say.
Green wine bottles I've been collecting for freecycle lady have been collected so thats another load out of the way, cleared the 'hot spot' kitchen table........even hoovered !!
Desperately need duvet for spare single bed for when son comes to stay next week...........market chap who normally sells them wasn't there, my catalogue quote delivery of 2 weeks  Think I'm going to have to borrow a spare from a neighbour. My own fault leaving it till last minute.
Have a good day and hugs ((((((((((:o )))))))))) to those who need themMary
I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

:hello: :hello: :hello: :hello: :hello: :hello: Hi everyone. This tread has grown so well that it really is impossible to name everyone but It is so warming to think everyone helps anyone in trouble. Just knowing someone cares makes such a difference.
Well after SHOCKING Mr Chalky yesterday I have as Aussie suggested kept away from the power tools.
We both had a terrible shock this morning

OMG --- Tried to put the picture on as an attachment but it flew in and I dont know how to delete it !!!!!!
Anyway I was saying .We both had a shock this morning. I went to the dentist at 8.30 pm and Mr Chalky went to fill up the van ( the first time since our return from Spain ) and collectively we spent over £200 in half an hour. It is madness. How are the youngsters with families managing?
Anyway -- OS -- Still trawling the freezers. Soup mainly but lots of other bulging bags that are interestingly tasty !!!
1 on defrost so we are getting there.
DD Been for lunch which was nice but she is back with very undesirable BF so that makes me sad. BUT I keep quiet.
Congratulations to all those celebrating and gentle thoughts and a BIG hug
