Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 5th June, 2008 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything ski m through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning everyone - luckily no one has seen me make a mess of starting this as I am so early. I'm paying the price for sleeping in yesterday and a siesta late yesterday afternoon, so will probably need one this p.m. too :rotfl: :rotfl: As I couldn't sleep, too warm and someone zzzzzzzzzzing, I thought I would start us off, but I am an hour ahead of you but actually got downstairs at 4.30 local time.
((((Betheebee)))) - not OS, well isn't old style when neighbours were there for each other, well I think we are your virtual neighbours, so you hit the spot. I also think that being able to say what we are feeling/hurting anonymously let's us "tell all" without embarrassment, nor the need to put a brave face on that we put on to the world. Make sure you look after you. As for curtains for the house (probably not a priority now) look round the cheap shops there are plenty about which are no more than the material costs, especially while 'armless'.
:hello: :hello: everyone - good luck with the results this p.m. Jayward hopefully you will "know something" from them. How is Phoebe anniestar? :hugs: To all, going to leave this here now, as response is really carp.

Morning Donny and all those who follow, up a little bit earlier than usual, because someone rang the door bell at 5.20 this morning  , actually it was not our ring, I think one of the neighbours has set there frequency to the same as ours, but it woke me anyway, so once we are all up I will be out there pressing ours
. It did only wake me though OH, DD and little dog slept through it  .
Off of a first aid course today and tomorrow, which is normally good fun.
Looks like its going to be nice here, might put a wash on in a moment, its meant to be raining
.
Fish fingers chips and beans for tea
, not very os, but delish, and we have a delivery from sainsbugs tonight.
Smoky, pen pin, jayward, beth, hugs to you xx

Just finished the rest of yesterdays thread, Beth, what a terrible time you are all going through, there is always someone here if you need to chat, its a great virtual group of best friends, ones to which you and tell anything, and they will not be shocked or turn their backs. Hopefully you will wake today a little bit stronger, and feel mentally more able to cope, huge hugs to you xx0 -
Morning.
Wet and dull today. Not the kind of day needed for the start of the Royal Cornwall show. It looks like Fri and Sat will be sunny though.
Work today and then drinks after. We have managed to claw back staff from elsewhere so we are almost back to normal. I managed to clear my desk, but only because I put things elsewehere.... Still keeps me occupied.
Nothing much to report...everything ticking along nicely..

Good morning all.
BETH - thinking about you this morning and sending (((hugs))). Donny-Gal is right - we are your virtual neighbours and here to listen.
(((Hugs))) to Smoky, Mrs Mix, PenPin and all in need.
Candygirl - I am so glad they have finally brought in the MacMillan nurses. (((Hugs))) to your Dad.
Lyndseyanne - I have only just caught up with yesterday's thread - you made me laugh and laugh with your 'postie' story! I bet he was as embarrassed as you!
Churchmouse - :hello: :hello: :hello:
Martyn - where and how are you?
Anniestar - I'm so sorry - I packed my pinny, my Marigolds and all my cleaning products (cloths, white vinegar, bicarb and the 'amber nectar' that is Stardrops) into the car to set off to your house but when I looked on routefinder for directions to 'Anniestar's House' from 'Mioliere's House' it wouldn't tell me! I had no alternative but to unpack the car and go and put the kettle on. And I was SO looking forward to more housew**k!
Well, I felt as if I had a cold starting last night - it may have been because I was so tired and I couldn't get warm. My Mum swears by that First Defence stuff; I had bought some when I last had a cold over Christmas. This was the first time I had tried it and, touch wood, I feel better this morning. I had a rotten cold in October and then at Christmas so I don't think I should have another one just yet and will be very cross if I get one.
R.Mac - like others on here, I would recommend ginger for morning sickness and also peppermint tea is really good for nausea of any kind. My morning sickness had gone after the first three months of both my pregnancies so hopefully yours will too. I had dry toast recommended to me but for some reason the sound of the toaster popping up made me feel worse as did the lid going on the teapot!
Well, I'd better go and have my shower before waking DH up for work. I just have a few phone calls to make and some invoices to type today and, on the domestic front, some towels to wash and a decision to make on dinner tonight. I got some slices of belly pork out of the freezer with no idea what I was going to do with them so I definitely need to trawl the indexed collections. I hope to get some more knitting done this afternoon, too.
See you all later.

Hugs to Bethbee, smokey & PP
I must be mad, I was cooking egg on toast at 5am for hubby & BIL, still they were gone as soon as they'd eaten. BIL has got 2 or 3 months work lined up for both of them, so thats good news. I need a new TV arial as ours is listing badly after the recent high winds & with a few months work we should be able to afford it. I also need to get my car MOT'd & I'm not expecting it to pass, still hopefully DS will be able to sort it out.
Have a good day.
Hugs Hester

Good Morning
Sorry N9eav - we actually have sunshine today.
(((hugs))) to Betheebee and anyone else who needs one.
Didnt manage to get back on the thread yesterday - time went nowhere. Had a good time at Tai Chi, really does do me good and I enjoy seeing the old ladies and gentlemen.
My shopping bike arrived yesterday and OH is halfway though putting it together. Its mainly for popping down the local shops which is at the end of my road but it is a long road. Also can use it if I go around my sisters. Will still need to use my car a lot as its rural round here but will cut out the silly short journeys.
Other than a few bits of washing I will be doing paperwork all day, have got my horrible filing job to do and also the yearly books for one of the buss. If I get those done I will be really proud of myself.
Didnt have tea at home yesterday so have still got roast pork which we will have tonight.
Have a great day.

I still have the ironing to do as a friend kept me chatting on MSN last night and it didn't get done

Chicken pie, with feshly dug potatoes and freshly picked mange tout for tea. Egg mayo pitta for lunch.
Hugs for jayward
Rzl - enjoy the opera
TNG - if you're not here soon, I'm sending out a search party :kisses3:
Have a great day, Penny. x:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
Morning all
Lovely day here today, and I am looking after DGD so will walk into town with her. It is about a 25 minute walk (all downbank going), but there is a Home Bargains, a £1 shop and a Wilkinsons, so will have a good mooch. The 25 minute walk back (upbank) will be good for the diet, and there is a bench to sit on half way
Spoke to DS last night and they are going to look at a couple of venues for their wedding, just hope one is suitable, and that the cost doesn't go up - I cannot believe how much a wedding costs
Anyway, off to walk the dog, have a good day everyone x
Forgot to say ((( hugs ))) Betheebee, don't worry about coming on here and having a moan, we all do it at sometime xxYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever

PenPen - I've got him!!!!!!
((((((((hugs)))))))))) to all those needing them, Beth I hope you managed to get some rest last night. I expect your head is whirling.
hester, that's good news about the work for your DH & BIL
Don't think I could face a cooked brekkie at 5am though (either eating or cooking it!)
D-G - your response was not carp, lol!!!!
Catch up later - I'm allowed to be on today as essay was finished yesterday
Oh yes, and I am going for a drink tonight with another internet date - who lives 500 yards up the road it would appear!!!!! (And who I have spoken to on the phone a few times & sounds very nice....).Live your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)

Morning all
BETH big hugs to you, what a terrible time. Hugs to anyone else who needs one, have read the thread but brain has gone.
Thankyou for all the hugs from yesterday. Went to my Dr, who is so lovely. She has prescribed me anti-depressants and signed me off for the rest of the week. She's also said that I should call her on Monday for another sick note if I need it. Feel a bit better knowing I can take some breathing space and work are fine about it. Feel so tired despite having slept well.
Plan today to visit the allotment as the sun is actually shining. Must also do some more studying.
Have a good day all.

morning!
just caught up with yesterdays thread so massive congratulations to R MAC and huge hugs to BETHEBEE,as others said we are all here anytime.
really pleased as we had our first pickings from the allotment yesterday....a huge bag of broadbeans and my youngest dd ate the first 6 strawberries of the year :-) going up tomorrow to finish putting down the weed killing stuff in between our beds,we started last week but its a two person job so have waited until now to finish when a friend can have my youngest dd whilst we do it.
not much oldstyle today as busy day! have coffee morning at school straight asfter drop off, then 10-11 we have a visit to the nursery with youngest dd so she can see class and meet teachers, then at 11.24(bizarre time!) she has her 3yo eye test at the doctors.we also have to go to the tip and do some weeding and a bit of clearing at home.
i have however already peeled the poatoes ready for tea......we'll be having mash, veg(broad beans!) and some lovely organic lamb and rosemary sausages that are part of my order from a £25 meat vouicher i won a while back,we had the meats delivered yesterday.
hope all is well with everyone and i promise to be better at keeping up here!0
