    It's a sucker from a mature tree or a seedling. We get plum tree suckers (well, greengage to be accurate) from our tree coming up all over the top of our garden & they look exactly like this.
    2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.

    I think officially I can say, that I am still no closer really as it could be willow as Davesnave states, there are willow around. It isnt a sucker as it is in a pot and that is where it grew from. I think, it will be potted on in its own pot and time will tell. costs nothing.

    if I get apples in ten to fifteen years then I will post again, notifying everyone ;-)

    Judging by the leaf edge I'd say not willow. Also not toothed enough for blackthorn so some other Prunus is my favourite but you still might get apples.

    mmmmmmm i have something similar i have been meaning to post about. I planted a hydrangea from a small pot a couple of years ago and it is going great now. Problem is when i planted it it had "another" plant in the pot but i left it and it looks like taht i was hoping it was another busht ype plant as it will fit well i dont want a tree! will try and post a pic.

    My daughter planted apple seeds (from her apple!) a couple of years ago and the foliage looks very similar to the photo

    I will be happy with an apple or plum. not to fussed about willow or blackthorn though
