Definitely a verbascum, and clearly fasciated, but of course it is an open question as to what caused this response.0

Fasciation (sp?) causes this peculiar deformity, where the stem is thickened and flattened. It is not uncommon on foxgloves and I've also seen it on forsythia and echium. Something disrupts the normal development of the cells; frost damage has been suggested. It is never too late to become what you were always intended to be0

I had nightmares about this plant last night!!!! :rotfl:“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0

Sorry for freaking you all out! It didn't chase me BUT it was in a fenced-off area with 'no trepassing' signs everywhere, maybe they had to restrain it?! It did give the impression it moved but only when you weren't looking at it...
Thanks for all the info, very interesting.0 -

Not entirely sure if I want that many poppeys in the garden. I planted them in a row in one of the borders. Are they difficult to controll?
I will take a pic of the ones still in the ground...To travel at the speed of light, one must first become light.....0 -
