B is fig leaved hollyhock, Althea something....Sorry have to eat dinner!0

Very impressive knowledge, Davesnave - I've learned something today!
Not that impressive, as it is usually spelled 'althaea' in this country!
The common hollyhock is rosea, while the fig-leaved is ficifolia and supposed to be more rust-resistant. There's also rugosa, which is alwaysyellow, and I dare say, hybrids between them.Anyway, Squiggle's plant looks pretty healthy, with no sign of rust. Mine don't look that good.0 -
No 1 is a Geranium, possibly endressii 'Wargrave pink' but there are a few others this colour. Geranium fiends know the difference, but the est of us can't be bothered!
No 2 is Linaria purpurea
No 3 is Euphorbia robbiae
No 4 is Bergenia, probably pink when its out.I dont know the proper name for the first one but it is protected in the wild and the only place it grows in the wild is Barrow-in-Furness, so I'm told
Kaat Lady, you are thinking of Geranium sanguineum lancastriense, which this isn't, I'm afraid.0 -
thanks for replies much appreciated:D0

The reed is the one that is a weed in my eyes and should be the one to pull out not the Aquilegia. We get these pesky reeds all over our allotment but they are really easy to pull out.
If you like the reed however just separate the two plants and keep both, after all a weed is just a plant in the wrong place.
Just beware, that reed will self sow all over the garden.A penny saved is a penny earned
