OS Daily Wed June 4th 08

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 4rd June, 2008 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything ski m through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning folks.

Looks to be a sunny day with threat of rain.

Back to work at 8. The 4 day rest was good, to begin with I would rather have worked and earned some extra, but after having the 4 days off, I am glad I took it. I managed all the garden maintainance, insurance quotes, bees, hens etc. So apprt from a large 4 meter gap in my boundary wall it all looks pretty good.

The insurance assessor phoned yesterday.... I was a little concerned about them taking issue with claims, but found that it was quite the opposite. I said about clean up and they offered to pay me if I wanted to do it, rather than a contractor. Sounds like a plan... I can always put a few extra things in the skip.

Up early again today. It's the daylight at 5am that does it. I need black out curtains.

Well have a nice day
cheers

Morning N9eav and those who follow or cross.

Up early today, Mr Twit is busy loading his van before setting off to Gateshead, the plan is that he will stay over until next Friday, but that is likely to change.
I managed to unpack all our holiday stuff last night and now have piles of washing all over the lounge. I'll squeeze in a trip to the launderette to get some washed and then out on the line....looks like a good here (so far).
Somehow the holiday already seems like an age away.

Work for me today and then I think i'd better start to blitz the house. It should be soooo much easier with Mr Twit away, although I haven't decided where to start.

I've not yet caught up with what happened last week and for some reason my thanks button didn't work on yesterdays thread.

Hugs to those in need.....Mrs Mix, Smoky, Candygirl, Essex-girl and Pen-Pin spring to mind, although I'm sure there are others going through a tough time.
Catowen, hope the new LO's settle ok and they can provide more of a steady income.
Hester, how does the Katy free zone feel?
Tru, are the piggies still ok?
N9eav, did the rest of the eggs hatch and what happened with your daughter's original one?

Love to all The Twit, :grouphug:

    Morning Everyone

    Wow, I'm early today :rotfl:

Lovely and sunny here at the moment, don't know how long for though. I have an interview this morning, agency rang yesterday its a temp job but to cover maternity leave. Will have to see how it goes.

Glad to hear you are getting your wall sorted N9eav, my parents had theirs knocked down last year, their insurance company were great about it, they couldn't claim from the driver as aparently the van had been stolen and by the time everyone came out to see what the noise was there was just the van in their garden.

Hope everyone has a good day, will catch up with you all later.

Hi N9EAV and all who follow.

It looks like we are going to have some decent weather here after the last two days of constant rain. At least the gardens will have benefited but my lawn now looks as though I didn’t mow it just a couple of days ago! It’s too wet to mow now so I hope it stays dry for a few days.

(((Hugs))) to Smoky, Mrs Mix, PenPin, Candygirl’s Dad and Betheebee and anyone else I have missed out; I haven’t had time to read the thread properly lately so I am not fully up to date with all the latest news.

    CHURCHMOUSE - :hello: :hello: :hello:
Today’s plan is to change the sheets and hoover and dust the whole house, write a couple of letters, do a bit of knitting and collect DGS up from school. When his Mum comes to collect him I shall give her her and DS1’s anniversary presents for their special day tomorrow. I have filled some ornamental champagne glasses with chocolates – the choccies I bought were too big which meant I could only put three in each glass. This looked very mean so I bought a big bag of Revels and some marshmallow hearts and used them instead. That meant, of course, that DH and I had a nice box of choccies to enjoy last night and the rest of the Revels so we pigged ourselves out!

Well, I’d better get on and have my shower before I wake the old man up for work. Have a great day, everyone, and I hope it’s not raining for anyone today!

    Morning all
    Welcome Bubbs.
Looks like we may have a brighter day here, hubby will be pleased as he wants to finish edging the flowerbed. I hope it stays dry tomorrow as he has a days work & he can't work in the rain, not that he minds getting wet, but the adhesive can only be applied in the dry.
I've been offered another lodger for September, another IT teacher!!!!!! But this one should be ok, he's a young man from Cardiff, so at least he's used to 24/7 electricity supply. I shall have the wireless internet access sorted by then.
    Have a good day
    Hugs Hester

    Morning

Ds is getting married in September, and he phoned last night to say they have found out that their venue is hosting a pop concert on the same day with up to 15,000 people expected  The wedding planner 'forgot' to mention this, so with 14 weeks to go, they are frantically trying to find another venue. I feel so sorry for them, they have had this planned for nearly a year, and now everything is falling apart. If anyone out there has a stately home in Staffordshire not being used on September 13th, let me know :o

Work today, and yes, it's a lovely day, but hope everyone enjoys the sunshine x

Charlie's Mum - what a shock especially at such short notice. These things take ages to organise and I thought that's what you use a wedding planner for - to arrange everything and make sure it all runs smoothly! My DS2's reception in August is being held at an international cricket club and they only found out recently that there is a match being played there that day, but they have been reassured that it won't interfere with the reception! We are keeping our fingers crossed! I do hope your DS finds somewhere else soon but their wedding planner has certainly not done the job properly, have they?

    Hi Charlies Mum

I don't own or know of any stately homes, but remember seeing an article in the Leek post a couple of weeks back about a place in Endon that had just been renovated for weddings. I am off out now, but could try and find it for you later.

PS - I am not on commission :rotfl: I just thought it sounded nice and maybe one day me and OH might take the plunge so it stuck in my mind.

    Morning all,

hooray, the sun is shining again! :) N9eav, glad you enjoyed the break & that the insurance co are being helpful too, hopefully you will start to get things straight again soon.
Good luck Dazi with the interview too, kept forgetting to ask if you managed to catch up with your DS in the end while you were down here?
Mioliere - now what you should have done is invite us all round to share the chocs, lol!!!! Good news Hester about the prospects of another lodger - and sounds like a much better one. Are you enjoying the Katy-free zone???
Charliesmum, that's such a shame re the wedding, hope they've kicked up a huge fuss with the venue (ringing local paper comes to mind....) to say how let down they are? I really hope they get somewhere else sorted, but not what they need.
Still no sign of Martyn???????? Hope he's doing ok & still happy.
    TNG - :happylove :kisses3:

Am sure more things/people will come to mind later....

More essay writing for me today so if you spot me on here, shout at me!!!
(((((hugs))))) to all those needing them, and happy birthday/anniversary to anyone who is celebrating.
