This morning I tried to book a £19 room at Newcastle Seaton Burn. The site highlighted that they had a room free on the dates I wanted to book at £19. When I tried to book however the price charged jumped to £51 per night. Thinking I'd done something wrong we returned to the site tonight. Now the site highlights they don't have £19 rooms free but do have £29 rooms free on the nights we wanted. We tried to book a £29 room and again the price that came up was £51.
I phoned Travelodge and was told that all cheaper rooms had been booked, she didn't offer to check my specific hotel or dates. Surely a large company like Travelodge has software on their site so that they don't advertise rooms at one price when they don't in fact have any? This feels like a massive con to me. Surely they shouldn't advertise rooms as available at one price, let you start the booking procedure and only then do you discover the price is more than double.
They caught us out as well. We tried a few months ago to book a £29 room but every time we clicked through it showed £39. As we needed the room we paid but then a few hours later it was still showing £29 and, clicking through, it was £29! I complained by email and they replied 3 weeks later saying they kept releasing dates through out the day and basically 'tough luck, you should have waited for more to be released'. If you don't know they do that, why would you wait?0 -
Morning
After seeing this post, i thought i'd check the Barcelona travelodge as we are driveing to southern Spain in August, we've stayed at this site befor and it has cost 99 Euro's, not bad as it includeds parking is easy to get to and is has air con. So i've logged on and found that i can and have booked a room for 4 people (2 adults & 2 Children) for 35 Euro's so that a couple more glasses of wine for me.
Thanks

I have stayed in Travel Lodges but they are not the cleanest of places. My son has a part-time holiday job in one and he says the duvets are filthy and have not been washed since the hotel opened 2 years ago.
They also have the one cloth for the room, which cleans both the glasses and the bathroom. Some of the rooms don't even have hot water.
Next time I stay in one I shall definitely check the bedding before I sleep in it.0 -
Surely if they are as bad as you just described, you`ll never, ever, not in a million years stay in one again.0

Maybe I won't......
I've only ever stayed in 2 and that was before my son started to work there. I now know what goes on behind the scenes. Cleaners in these places are on a pittance.
I would think twice about using any hotel glassware since watching recent TV programmes.0 -

Why would you ever believe an unsealed glass was 'clean'?????0
