Gemmzie's Staying-Debt-Free-With-No-Income Diary

I need a better title :rotfl: But anyways.....

I have decided to leave my job. I'm not physically well enough for it and the stress it causes just is not worth it. So at the end of June, I'm unemployed.

I'm debt free and own my car outright (it's worth about £2.5k) and have £1k available on a 0% student overdraft.

So my plan is to try and stay debt free, using the skills I've learnt from here :) with zero money coming in for now.

I basically have to make it until October when my student money will come in but I'm not sure how much that'll be as my parent's income has changed since I applied last year.

SOA to follow in post two :)

Wish me luck, any tips much appreciated

Good luck with this Gemmzie, I think it will be an interesting challenge. Have you thought about a fun summer job down in Cornwall?
Check out all the dudes at the same time?
Or there is Aqa, and i know you are good at matched betting, so funds permitting there could be an opportunity there.
You could cut back on things like the dvd rental, to keep things ticking. some banks also raise your 0% overdraft in the next year, so that could be an option if things get tight.
I would work out what you need to live on until uni starts again, and build in some emergency bits then go from there.

I have BOB but not really sure what I could do  I'm pig-sick of retail and can't do bar work so I'm a bit stuck :o

I might apply to AQA when they open, I nearly did before but didn't have time to complete the application form.

I'm pretty sure I can scrape through to October, I only earnt £285 at my previous job so the £1500 (tax credits or overdraft + bursary) should cover me fine. I hope :rotfl:

Have you chased them up?
  • Gem ~ just saying hello and good luck in your new misson. I knew how much you hated that job and if anything it was making you ill. I think you have made a big step. I agree with others get matched betting (your a whizz already) or aqa. If not for the income but for the challenge. I think you will have no problems budget wise as you are fab already :) Hows your parents finances coming along?

    Take care sweetie :D

Wow, not a small challenge then!?! Can't really suggest anything that hasn't been said, just wanted to wish you luck! If the job wasn't helping your health, then its definately not worth it!

Good luck Gemmzie, a few cutbacks and it should be manageable. you could probably get contacts cheaper.
