Is it just me or has all the icons and avatars got mixed up?? PLG has my avatar? and I have Beanielou's
Gym was good, though very warm. Welcome Kenny, you need to listen to the wise ladies on here, they know lots and help loads. I concur with what bails has said. I will read it again and if need be pipe up with some advise later. However to use an age old saying, with regards to the gym, dont try to run before you can walk
Right have to dive onto a conference call and then tomorrow and Wednesday I am out all day, so will pop in as and when I can.
Keep smiling

I'm starting the Atkins diet to lose a stone or so, and wondering if anyone has any tips on how to keep it cheap? I can see it being quite expensive - lots of meat! - so has anyone done it and kept cost down to a minimum?
Any ideas gratefully received and thanks for reading :j
Hi Nicky,
I just had a look and found this older thread on the Familiy's board that might help:

Kennyparkroad, are you including all drinks in your daily calories? It's just you say you have a beer gut but don't mention any alcohol intake, perhaps you've given up?
I know it doesn't make sense to you to increase your calorie intake but given your stats it does seem you are undereating quite significantly. It's not just about weight loss, being healthy is more important.

kennyparkroad as another bloke, I definitely agree with everything you've already been told by the girls this afternoon. To be honest 1200 or there abouts is going to stop you losing weight long term. I know the temptation is to think something like "1500 to 2000 is recommended, so if I have a few less then I'll lose faster" but it simply doesn't work that way - not for more than a few weeks anyway. If you eat a significantly low amount then your body will attempt to store every calorie it gets because it doesn't know where the next fuel source is coming from - and of course, it stores those calories as fat. You would be much much better - and lose weight faster while staying healthy - if you increased your intake with quality, filling food.
You say what you're doing works, and indeed it will, but it's not good long term. It could be unsustainable and lead to it piling the weight back on like the billy-o.
nickyhutch, hope you find your answers.. as a veggie I'm not really up to speed with Atkins0 -
I am starting to feel that I am typing the same message every Monday now because I have lost another 2.5 pounds this week!!:o
:j
I am so happy - that is the third week in a row and I have now come down into the next stone (albeit only by half a pound but I havn't been that low in years!)
Something seems to have happened to me in the last month or so (maybe since my Mom died?) and the diet just seems to be working and I find it so easy to follow the plan! Although now that I have said that I will probably gain next week!
I am going to take Charlie for a walk in the woods, where it is a little cooler and then catch up on some overdue chores.
Love

This weekend has been fab. I am very sun burnt due to the weather being so pants when we left but absolutly glorious in silverstone! The noise of the cars was amazing, i orgasmed when i heard the f1 car go out. Jesus christ, it was soo noisy and sooooooooo good. The racing was class, i was juist beside myself with wowness. Got up at 5:40am and did get home till 9:30pm so it was a long day, but very worth it.
I might be going back to london cos when my mum booked a cruise they gave her 2 tickets to see mama mia in london, but because my dad is disabled hes worried about sitting for a length of time and having to rush to get a train ect, so im the recipiant! Woooo
This week exercise and food wise can only be good! Yesterday i ate !!!!!! all cos it was too hot to get lunch from our car that was forever away and we didnt have any money. I walked home from work today and i might even do some steps on my stepper because i had a chocolate frapachino for lunch todayHoping for some action this week, you know it wont happen though!

Gym was good, though very warm.
I hate when the gym is hot, I get warm very quickly as it is (I've been known to be walking round in the dead of winter in just jeans & t-shirt)
I hate this hot summer weather. It brings my motivation down as all I want to do is sit around in the shade, let alone run for 20 mins!
