As we are racing towards LW22 at a rate of knots, any suggestions for the poll of the thread, struggling to think of one at the moment.

As the ball is rolling re: the meet...maybe a 'which area would you prefer?' Type of poll?

Im 22 yrs old male, I've been going gym for over a month now, I do an hour a week with person trainer, and other then that try and do 4 to 5 days a week of an hour at gym but haven't seen much weight loss. I'm veggie and tried to minimise the carbs.

Did a fat test with trainer and in a week I have lost 2% fat but weight stayed same after going gym everyday. good and bad I guess. I think I'm gaining muscle But I really want to see more of a difference in body fat.

If your weight has stayed the same this means you have developed more muscles. Reducing the body fat % is more important than losing the weight.
    Well done :T

so I decided to use my rickety old bike (anyone remember the "rickety chair" from the Young Ones :rotfl: ?) which has no gears or suspension (auch!) and a rather unfashionable huge basket at the front (anyways I digress...)

OH! A granny basket that'll be then, PLG?

Tagz well done on completing the race for life, what an achievement

Missy yay for finally having lost that last stubborn pound and half, well done.

well last night at the gym i weighed myself on there body fat scales. according to them my height has shrunk, my bmi and weight have gone up (since i last tried it in march), my percentage body fat has gone down by point one but my fat mass has increased. i dont understand how that is possible. i had assumed the increased weight was muscle mass since when i started exercising i piled on a stone in a month and it has pretty much stayed the same since.

i have figured out who to loose weight, but its not healthy and i know if i go back down that route i will only end up right back here in a year or so anyway. *sigh*

Well done Missy!! lovely to see weight/fat etc going down isn't it:D

Good luck with the weigh-in Erlqueen;)
Lois at least you know why you've gained, must be frustrating though when it's work-related--can't exactly be avoided can it:rolleyes:
Raphael--poor you, I always get so mad with myself when I gain! Easy to forget that we're all only human, and have bad times as well as good ones. Better luck next week!
Nemo, Raphael is right, it's the amount of fat that counts, not the weight, and 2% is a pretty good reduction!! Well done. Would it help to work out the actual 'before and 'after' weights of the fat you are/were carrying?

Another quick post from me, I know I'm not pulling my weight support-wise--I am trying, just have too much to do in too little time:o .

    This week I've lost 2 lbs, bringing my total this month to 9lbs, :j :j thanks guys:T :T :D

    Jay xx

    Anytime;)

How can fat % go down, but fat mass go up? Unless you are gaining muscle as well as fat?

I don't know what method of weight loss you mean, but if you know it isn't healthy please steer clear! You know it's not sustainable, and at the end of the day health is more important than the amount you weigh!

I'm more fed up with myself than angry, I knew as I was stuffing the pasty or whatever into my greedy gob that it would have an effect, but I couldn't stop myself!
I kept telling myself I'm on holiday so deserve a treat, but I think I just had one treat too many!!

awwww - I was enjoying the banter! :p

Sorry to disappoint you granny but this particular style of bicycle (which 95% of Japanese ppl have) is called a ママちゃり. ("mamachari") which means "mummy bicycle". Mum's use them daily to take their babies/toddlers to the shops or kindergarten.

Heres a pic of one (mines is blue and doesn't have the back chair for kids as I'm not a mummy - yet!). Some of them have kids chairs on the front AND back! :
