    Thank you :)

Reading through the front page made me realise both why the weight came off by itself and why it's stopped over the last month or so (that bit probably has something to do with now living over a pizza shop). I keep forgetting I'm a giant and giants need more calories :P

Thank you for your very useful answer Efrieze! I don't have fancy gadgets either but my phone has a stopwatch feature where I can do lap/split times, so that's quite cool! For some reason I thought running outside would be slower than a treadmill but you've proved me wrong, well done on your time that is excellent.

As far as hand weights go, there's no correct weight, it's whatever you can manage. As long as they are providing resistance and you're not flinging them around like feathers! After a while if they become too easy you can move up to heavier ones, but in my opinion it's better to start with something manageable than too heavy :)

Thanks also FFM about the shopping load info! Let's just say I don't think I'll be trying that again in a hurry.... :rotfl: I am strong for a girl (you should see what I need to lug around when I'm working), but that wasn't pleasant this morning. Now I need a massage :rotfl:

Lois - I love they way they put "one measly pound" as if it's nothing! :D This is my 7th week trying to lose the same 1.5lb and I am undereating/exercising to the tune of at least a 3,500 deficit per week so if it were down to food and exercise alone, I would have lost at least 7lb in that time. I can undereat and STILL gain. I do agree with the principle though - that one chocolate bar isn't going to ruin everything!

Starlight sorry to hear you've stalled, especially on a plan which has obviously been so successful for you to date. Have your WW leaders given you any advice? Have you done one of those 'kickstart' weeks to try to get it moving again? Perhaps this is just a really stubborn bit of weight rather than anything wrong with your overall strategy. Do any of the other tried and tested eating plans appeal to you at all? Hope you get a better result this week.

Hi Danni, welcome, good luck at SW later and with the rest of your weight loss, glad to have you with us!

Suggs, yes I'm up for it! When my back has recovered from this morning's exertions! I would love to be able to run 5km in <30 mins, but first I need to actually run the full distance without any walky bits. I'm way behind you and Efrieze, and also Tagz who's done the full 5k now too. Remember last time was only my third go and I'm no way a natural runner :)

Pinklipgloss, like any gym equipment, your requirements for a treadmill could be totally different to someone else's. Important to me would be: Overall size and weight, quiet operation, foldability & wheels, good clear computer display with lots of feedback options, at least one elevation option, good range of speeds from walking pace to a sprint. If I was buying just for me I'd look for something relatively light and compact because I don't want something the size of a tank in my house! If you're not sure what you want you could always rent one first? (btw the Reebok I-Run always seems to be topping the comparison tables and I have to admit it looks good...)

    Afternoon peeps :)

I stay away from the thread for several days and all these bonnie lasses appear^^ Did I miss us starting up a modelling agency? Can I be the camera(wo)man please? :j

I am devastated to report a sts! Devastated because it means that if I hadn't eaten the wagon this weekend I would have got my half stone award - what happened to the 'boot' we used to have around here? I need it already :o

I think it may even have been the expected gain if it wasn't for the fact that before I went to class I plugged in the Wii. No, I don't have the Wii fit yet but this was the first time I'd fully taken it out of the box and set it all up. By the time I'd finished crawling under the computer desk and behind the TV I was shattered. Also was a little more active with the Wii remote as the dratted thing simply WOULD NOT WORK!!!!!!!!!! Discovered it worked fine once I put the batteries in :rotfl:
Some wonderful losses already this week :j :j :j bravo to the losers and gl to those yet to weigh in

That gave me a good laugh!! Reminded me of my Mum. We were at a car boot sale and she said "Do you think this remote will work on your brother's TV?". "Doubt it Mum" I replied "It's a calculator!".:rotfl:
    I would if I could but I can't so I won't!

Sorry I got my figure wrong on the Calories figures like you lot said its 3500 Calories to 1lb .. shocking really.. But that is something like 1 chocolate bar a day to build that up (now I know where I went wrong ;)

Sat down working a few things out to stick onto the worksheet to track my progress but can these figures be right (be in mind I worked out I want to lose 2lb's a week)

    25 years/Male/ 17s12lbs at rest I burn 2366 Calories a day
Work and other activits I burn 1894 Calories a day (really!)

Total 4260 Calories take in a day.. at this rate the lb's should be dropping off....

Anyway - off to the gym,

I've just caught up with all the pages I'd missed...

There's been some great losses this week - well done everyone! Plus - lots of newbies - welcome!

missyg - thank you for your advice - I really like the look of the Reebok I-Run - it's received lots of positive reviews. hmmm I'll have to save up my pennies!

More figures.... to work out your rest Calorie burn rate

You need 1 Calorie per 1 kilo of you bodyweight per hour... in my case I weight 247lbs or 112kgs = so that is 112 Calories per hour at rest or 2688 Calories a day

    Shocking!
