    Evening everyone!
Sorry I havent been about lately, has been a little mental at home!

Not had chance to really read through how well everyone is doing. Im sure everyone is doing great?!

Talking of which... last Monday, I started a new regime, of portion control and eating healthier meals, doing steady exercise (similar to RC) and I am proud to say I have lost:
    7 lbs!!!! 1/2 stone!!!

Which I am chuffed with, its giving me that extra *oomph* to keep going!

Woo hoo!!! Well done you! I seem to be stuck at 2 stone down and loads of stones to go :rotfl:

I just keep thinking, this is just me changing my eating habits, cutting down etc.

And also taking to account I had a Pizza Hut on Friday for OH bday, then his bday BBQ Saturday and another on Sunday!

Im now thinking, with some exercise, the weight will come off quicker than I thought!! :)

Wendy I don't think many of us have ever lost 24.5lbs in 6 weeks! Perhaps Kymrob has?! I am on week 9 of trying to lose 5lb, but it is teaching me a good lesson in patience :rotfl: If it was me I'd keep the target but allow more time :) No shame in that at all!

Fantastic YoungBean! Wow, that's an amazing loss! Good luck, hope it continues at a good rate for you :)

We know your exercise regime yields fab results Dragon! ;) Hehe.

FFM if you're around, what the maximum load of shopping you've carried on your bike? I'm wondering whether a load including a bag of potatoes and a 4-pinter of milk is gonna cripple me! I don't have panniers, only a backpack. It's quite hilly between here and the supermarket :)

This ones for you too missyg - you asked how long it takes to run 5km on the treadmill v on the road. The problem is that I find it hard to measure EXACTLY how long it takes on the road because we don't have any fancy gadgets just a watch without a second hand (and a small face too - accuracy is definitely relative!). Anyway, we *think* that we just did it in about 26 mins on the road (I say think becasue we weren't even accurate at looking at the watch at the start!) and my best time on the treadmill is 28m53s. ON one hand it is harder on the road, becasue you can't exactly keep a fixed speed (nor are you forced to maintain a hard speed) but on the on the other hand, there are more distractions and it is less boring. The variation works for me, I think. One of each a week. All good. I have just got a new 'Body Sculpt' dvd which I started last night too. I bought some hand weights to use with these dvds but only bought 1.3kg (3lbs) each one - is that too little (for those in the know)? Does anyone else use hand weights?

Congrats on the 3lb loss :j

I try not to load up my back pack too much and put the heavy things in my panniers. The heaviest load in my panniers was 4pints of milk, 4 tins, 1 large hand of bananas and 1 bag of apples - in each pannier. (That was the day I could barely push my bike up the hill from the railway line crossing - it is rather steep!!!)

Then in my rucksack I only had to carry 10 rolls of tin foil (end of line - were going to be more expensive in the 'new style') + 2kg oats (I do love my porridge) = 3kg total.

A 4 pinter would weigh about 2.2kg, so if you bought 5kg of potatoes that would be about 7kg total. I think that would weigh quite heavy on your back but would just about be do-able (as you are quite fit)

But do be careful and don't over do it.

    FFM :)

...FFM Maintaining is a fine balance and requires nerves of steel, but most importantly, in my experience, is be relaxed about about it. Our bodies calorific need varies daily depending on what we're doing, so personally I'm not sticking to any specific amount but just see how my weight fluctuates. So far this seems to be working for me :j. So don't beat yourself up too much, take it easy and that way it will be easier to live with :D (I hope that made sense :o )...

    Thanks petrichor

I do try not to beat myself up about it, but am conscious of not losing too much and becoming 'unhealthy'.
